Thanks for tuning in learn about a uv sterilizer for a saltwater aquarium and how to control a reef tank cloudy water or hair algae.
Most people don’t QT properly, so likely need quality UV
We are promoting the use of a sterilizer for the aquarium overall redox along with hair algae algae control, bacterial control, parasite, and virus control.
Adding a prefilter for Turbidity. This lowers the amount of organic particulates going through the sterilizer, which makes the sterilizer more efficient.
And basically having a prefilter on the pump would have done two things. Seeded or not seeded the filter would add more bio filtration because it’s catching the bacteria and algae through a fine bio prefilter before the sterilizer and adding to overall more faster growth of bio and remember for alage, a uv sterilizer doesn’t remove the alage sores from the aquarium, it makes it so it goes regrow, but so the algae spore if not being picked up by a filter, it’s going to settle in the aquarium on the rock and not in the prefilter.
We also go over:
• Flow rate
• Dwell time (related to flow rate)
• Minimum Water Turnover in pond or aquarium per hour
*As well the circulation pattern can affect UV Sterilization effectiveness
• Distance of UV Lamp from UV Sterilizer containment 'wall'
• Temperature of water
