New Video!
What it takes to do a freshwater planted aquarium!
While we're not “true experts” in this areas of aquariums, as there’s people who have master the tranquil picture perfect aquascape. There are people who dive into just this area of aquariums and study all aspects.
I think this is because this is an exciting part of aquarium keeping, we many start with fish and find that there’s many live plants people also can get.
We have kept successful tanks with using a handful of methods. Also had some awesome failed attempts, and also looked into the science of the aquarium type. These aquariums we serviced at clients and others are personal aquariums.
So, these opinions about the planted tank are for the most common aquarium keeper.
We do have a quality source of many plants!
What the point of a planted tank? Well, besides the fact that they look awesome, resemble more like nature, they do have a beneficial reason to have them. This range from extra places for fish and shrimp to make a home, more surface for feeding and resting, the roots oxygenating the substrate, helping with beneficial bacteria, and having an osmorelationship with the water. Plants use up co2 during photosysnthisis, and provide oxygen at night. Having plants will help establish an overall ecosystem and overall provide best health for the aquarium long term. As the aquarium ages, we get to much more hands off the aquarium which is also best for us and the aquarium.
First lets keep in mind that most all plants to the hobby are from wholesalers that have grown the plants were about to put into our aquariums in a Greenhouses!
In this video, well be going over filters, circulation, flow, lighting, substrate, co2, ferts, plant dips, and some alage control.
