I’m going to be setting up a 40 Breeder tank soon. Just going to think of stock and other ideas. This tank is replacing two tanks I once had set up. One tank I had sold off to a coworker and the other burst its seals and drained. I plan on live plants, spiderwood, and large river rocks for the scape. Stock wise this is what I have planned: 1 Angelfish 2 German Blue rams or Gold Rams 15 Black Neon Tetras 8 bronze or Albino Corydoras 3 Pictus Catfish 1 Twig Catfish

Sounds like a fun build. Are you going to inject co2 for the plants?

I never used CO2 for plants. I currently have an anubias That I had for close to 8 years, I broke it apart a few times to the point I had 10 plants out of one. This tank I may do CO2 but not really sure if I need to. Most plants I get are low lights except amazon swords and jungle val. One plan is to make moss trees.

Doesn't sound like you need it. Looking forward to the progress!

I may swap out the black neons for Cardinal Tetras, they get the same size, just need a pop of color.

Tank is filled and running. I did add a bag of flora mix to the tank, along with some bacteria supplement. There’s also a cycled internal filter in the tank to help . There are some fish in the tank that was given to me, one was originally from my 55 gallon tank. I have 4 glotetras(not a fan), a white and black skirt tetra, and my marble angelfish.

Looks good. Like the double rack. What's in the bottom tank?

I moved the tank that was under it back into my room. I have a cat, she was climbing onto the 20 long. There’s two leopard geckos in that tank. The 40 breeder had cleared up and looking nice. Swapped out the fake plants for real ones. I have a friend that is taking the 7 tetras I was given and getting 16 Cardinal tetras. They will pop on the black background. What I plan to stock: 1 angelfish 16 Cardinal tetras 4 Blue/Gold rams 8 Kuhli Loaches 1 twig catfish 4-6 oto catfish or 4-6 male guppies

My tank is officially cycled. Ammonia 0ppm Nitrites 0ppm and Nitrates 20-40 PPM. I will do another water change Friday. I did one Monday and Tuesday. I did pick up 6 male guppies, normally I don’t get them but these guys were to pretty!

Looks good. I would make sure to use a AAP Wonder Shell for the type of fish your keeping. These minerals are good for the plants too. What other plants are you getting?

I have ferts in the gravel already for my plants. I’m getting a bunch of stem plants and Val. I’ e had Bolivian Rams in the past and they thrived. But so far the Blue Rams are eating and aren’t really hiding. Tank is kept at 82-84.

But so far the Blue Rams are eating and aren’t really hiding. Tank is kept at 82-84. Wonder Shells work differently from ferts. This said only fractional amounts of fresh AAP Wonder Shells are needed, and if what you have done in the past has worked, I would stick with it Further Reading: www.americanaquariumproducts.com/Redox_Potential.htmlCarl

Never had an issue with growing plants and normally don’t really add things to my tank. I have well water and have no chemicals in my water.
My rams are doing really well. They aren’t hiding and actively seeking out food.
