Well my female sunshine had been holding about 2 weeks. I just moved her on Sunday...Last night she had already spit. WOW, that was fast. This group is MUCH bigger then her original 9 she had the first time. So far I have counted about 27 and if it is like the last time I will keep finding more. How exciting. I may have to keep mom and dad seperated for a while so they don't make anymore babies till these ones grow and can be sold.

Good News! I do have one question, since you said she "spit", did you provide her with a cuspidor/spitoon? Carl

That's the one thing I know I was telling you about, that many others have said. When Africans start breeding, it's almost too hard to get them to stop. Isolating the two may be your best bet. I just got another group of Labidochromis Careleus this weekend also. About 35 or so this time. I just can't get a count on the sheer number. Even changing the water with the fake plants out, they just don't hold still long enough. I make it into the 20's and I am like, did I just count that one?
As long as you at least give that female a week to two weeks alone, you should have a good cycle of spawnings going on, so keeping her seperated just might be your best bet, as it won't do any harm or risk to the offspring leaving mom with them in a small tank. Dad on the other hand might think you just are offering him some high protein dinner choices LOL

Yeah, so right now I have about 36 little one's for sure maybe more. I am going to keep these guys seperated until these babies grow and I can see how easy or hard it is to get rid of them or till I get more tanks.
