Tons of questions today... I seem to have read from a couple sources that Chloramphenicol does not dissolve that well in water? What would be a safe solvent to use to help dilute chloramphenicol prior to using in the tank? i have had the same problem with my USP grade sulfamethoxazole- trimethoprim too. I keep shaking it up in a gallon container, and I keep seeing powdery bits suspended in the solution like a giant snow globe. thanks for your help as always!

I am not sure your source for Chloramphenicol, as it has not been available to the aquarium keeping community for a couple decades. My use of it had no issues whatsoever in dissolving. Ditto the Sulfa products

Thanks Carl. I believe you, and I am glad I don't have to mess with any additional chemical to dissolve it.
I can access USP grade chloramphenicol, just through personal connection. I have microbiology/biochemistry background. The textbook says it is soluble in water but rather low solubility (2.5-5 mg/ml)
I have not obtained it, just want to have an option if nothing else works. Handling it can be problematic, I have a respirator and goggles ready if I decide to take the plunge.
