If your going to switch antibiotics, I would start all over with the baths and swabs as well. I agree! In looking at your Cory, the fish seems to be slowly "dissolving away". I see no typical symptoms of common bacterial infections such as Aeromonas or Columnaris. This may be viral in nature which would explain why the antibiotics have had no real success. There are some anti viral properties to both ParaGuard and Super Ich Plus. As well Usnea added to baths has some anti-viral properties www.aquarium-pond-answers.com/2007/01/usnea-using-usnic-acid-as-fish-remedy.htmlCarl

Carl and Devon, I have some updates. Good news. I suppose it sucks when people never tells you what the final outcome is, so here I am. Our last emerald cory survives. You are right that they can tolerate spectogram, and even did ok at double dose. When I said it is hard on fish, that was according to my husband's observation afte soing the tank with 6 cories in it when they were all still alive. Now we realize the reason some fish became lethargic was probably because they were already very sick, and sick fish obviously do not tolerate medications well. We can't take it when fish die, especially if that results from poor husbandry on our end. The whole episode was stressful on the entire household. I am sorry I did not report back in between. To start, the cory tank belongs to my husband so he makes the final call since they are his pets. He believes cories are delicate and is never an advocate for medicating anyways. Pitching Usnea to him pretty much ended up in a fight. He agreed to use spectogram and a little salt. We treated the tank 14 days straight on that. Spectogram stopped the aystemic infection. However the fin continued to fray ever so slowly. On day 12 he agreed to add methylene blue and malachite green and acriflavine( I would have added it on day 5 after fin kept eroding but he did not want to, because he was concerned that much med can kill the cory). We also gave hima bath in double dose paraguard. I would have used medicated wonder shell but he was worried there might be copper in there that could hurt delicate fish like the cory. So that was the most I could persuade him to do. So after methylene blue, malachite green and acriflavine was added and paraguard bath at double dose was given, one split in the tail healed overnight! He should have been off med from day 14-20 but i did not want to discontinue medicated wonder shell. So I continue to use methylene blue, malachit green and acriflavine with triple sulfa. Fins are still growing back, ever so slowly. Here we are at day 20. He is about to get a break from the meds for 7-10'days I really love your " everything but the kitchen sink" mix. It works most of the time. You guys are awesome! Pls. Let me know if there is anything we should consider using after this break. Thanks again
