Hi there! I own part of a pond that I would like to clean up. I spent 4 hours trying to pull on this thick mat of weeds with a potato hoe. Pulled 5 trees out that was growing in the mat. Pond is maybe 3/4 acre with little water to be seen around edges. I can walk on this stuff. Sinking a little. So much debris in pond.(Leaves,Limbs). If I get sump pump moving the water will it help stun the growth of weeds already there so that I can eventally pull them out easier? Gonna purchase some Seachem Pond Matrix and Volcanic rock for the sump pump. Thanks, Audrey

Pulling the weeds would just allow for something else to grow in it's place for the next season. Maybe algae or another plant. Best is to spay the weeds a 1/3 of the pond at a time, then hand pull them... I would hire a maintenance team, then start using a bacteria table throughout the whole pond each month to eat the muck the plant and algae is using. To do it right, its going to be a lot of labor for someone and cost $$$$. The bacteria alone for that size pond is about $150 for a treatment of a acre pond and it has to be done monthly in the hot seasons.
