I have a question about quarantining and fish baths/dips. I think I read on Carl's website that one can do a fish bath or dip with new fish if there is no room to do a quarantine? How would one go about doing a bath with a new fish that was shipped? I thought that once you open a bag containing a fish that was shipped, one should not try to mix aquarium water with the dirty bag water. One should acclimate the fish to the aquarium temperature by floating the bag before opening it. Then one should transfer the fish directly into the water as quickly as possible after opening the bag and toss the dirty bag water elsewhere other than the aquarium.
So then do you acclimate the bag to the aquarium water, open the bag and transfer the fish to the bath containing the aquarium water and bath medications for 30 minutes? Then after 30 minutes in the bath, transfer the fish into their new aquarium?
Can someone educate me more? I am going to start my tank with a few fish but I would like to add more in the future. But I have no room in my home for additional holding tanks.
Cheers, Keightley
