I'm not certain if this is the board to post this question on, but since an ID is needed for something in my aquarium I'm gonna give it a shot. My daughter brought home an ecosystem aquarium last year with a mosquito fish, three snails (thinking pond or bladder), a live plant and duckweed. The fish died early on but the snails did fine. Two snails were moved to a 10 gal aquarium while the 3rd remained behind. Was waiting for him to move to the surface level of the water to be moved over. Before that happened though these tiny seed like creatures appeared. After much research I believe them to be seed shrimp (ostracods). After that these tiny white worm like things appeared. At first I thought detritus but now I'm wondering if they aren't something else with how small they are. Once I figure out how to post pictures I will add them. Until then, the white things are about 1/4" long at most, some as small as 1 cm long. They seem to hang out in the substrate but occasionally I find that they'll be hanging out on the aquarium walls similar to a slug. When the "seed shrimp" bump into them the worm things get knocked loose from the wall and curl up into circles or "S" forms until they sink to the bottom or reattach to the wall.

Agreed. Just a symptom of an aquarium not really maintained.

No concern then. They are in a 2 liter soda bottle "aquarium". All original inhabitants died off about a month ago. I only kept it to find out what these new inhabitants were. Curiosity and fascination have kept them alive up to now. Thanks for putting my inquiring mind to rest. Now I can focus solely on our 10 gallon tank. 😊
