I just wanted to say hi and introduce myself. I have been in the hobby for over 20 years but I have been absent from the hobby for the last 3 years. I am getting back into starting a reef tank, 48"×12"×12 acryllic, with a focus on LPS and SPS corals. I will have alot of questions for all of you, but my first will be, what recommendations for lighting do you have? I want to run Aquaray, mainly because of all the research provided about them.
Thanks!

Welcome Eric!! This is an unusual size aquarium, long but quite shallow and narrow. This makes matching somewhat interesting. If you want power to sp[are either two Ocean Blue NP 1500 Tiles or two Coral Colour Plus 1500s will easily work for what you want. The Ocean Blue has the perfect spectrum & natural look for growing corals, while the Colour Plus amplifies certain colors, adding to the aesthetic of your aquarium for those who like the glowing look for their corals. For more minimal but still very functional applications, & would suggest 2 or maybe three AquaRay 600 Reef White or Reef White/Ocean Blue combination (with three, two would go end to end with the third in the middle) www.americanaquariumproducts.com/LEDLights.htmlCarl

Welcome to the group!
Personally I would go with 2 or 3 of the 600 models AquaRay. Since it such as shallow tank, you would be able to grow anything you want really with 2.

Thanks for the help! I am leaning toward the aquaray 600 reef whites. But I am also considering a dual 54w t5 set up.

The 2 Reef White strips would be comparable in output to the 54 Watt t5 set up This might be a helpful read too: www.americanaquariumproducts.com/Aquarium_Lighting.htmlCarl
