My Zebra Danio, which I have had for at least 2 years, has been swimming strangely (vertically, slowly) today, and it looks like he has internal bleeding! There is no apparent injury or scratch on the outside of his body. When I first noticed I added API Melafix, and I just returned from my local pet store where I picked up API FURAN-2, which I have just dosed my tank with. Any advice will be super helpful!
Other facts - 10 gallon planted tank, with red platys and some cory cats (all seem to be acting/eating normally). I recently added a new rock and new plants, which admittedly I did not clean before adding to the tank. My female Albino Cory Cat died yesterday (have had for over 2 years also) with no apparent illness/injury before or after death. I have been feeding my fish frozen bloodworms a couple times a week for the last 2 weeks, along with flakes daily. I did about a 15-20% water change 2 days ago, and conditioned the water I put in the tank as normal. I currently only have an ammonia test kit, so I am not sure/able to check my water parameters this evening. PLEASE HELP! (Also, what is the best way to sanitize/clean plants before adding, I have reviewed videos etc but would like to hear from people about personal preference/experience)

This appears to be advanced Aeomonas with possibly internal infection as well, making treatment difficult. I would treat with a combination of Furn 2 and AAP Kanaplex. Soaking fish food with Metronidazole & Kanaplex too might be helpful Reference: www.americanaquariumproducts.com/Aquarium_Medication.html#food_deliveryWater conditions are a MUST for effective Aeromonas cure, since these play a major role in this pathogen. Make Ammonia/nitrites are 0 as well a stable pH, KH of at least 50 ppm,l GH of at least 100 ppm and a constant supply of mineral Cations. While it is too late for prevention, making sure these parameters are optimum, bio load is low, no decomposing mulm, and a quality fish food diet will go a long ways in aiding any treatment and preventing future outbreaks Please Read & Follow these articles as closely as possible: www.americanaquariumproducts.com/Vibrio_Aeromonas.htmlwww.aquarium-pond-answers.com/2016/09/how-to-treat-sick-fish.htmlCarl

Thankyou very much! I very much appreciate all your help, and will review the information. I have ordered a master test kit online and will be sure to test water parameters more consistently. My little guy did pass away last night, and I would very much like to avoid this ever happening again... Thanks again!

Second what Carl said. Does seems like a bacteria issue, which you would want to up your game on water changes, but also consider reducer minerals (cal, mag, poss- AAP Wonder Shell), which will reduce the stress on the fish and keep their immunity boosted to help fight off disease like this.
Make sure you get a KH and GH test kit too, the master kit doesn't have these, but are in my opinion the two most important test.
Carl gave some great resources.

Wow, I am super glad I joined this forum... I live in a small city in Ontario, Canada. I have access to some small locally owned pet stores; however, I am wondering if anyone could suggest an online retailer that I could order products from? I really have just been doing lots more research about freshwater tanks, given I have had this tank for a few years now I am realizing how much I was not doing properly. It's all a learning experience, and I really appreciate the community, help, and advice I have received!

AAP is the sponsor of this forum: www.americanaquariumproducts.com/Here is a link for a 5 in 1 Test Strips which is good for basic information and includes the GH & KH tests that Master Test Kits do not contain www.americanaquariumproducts.com/Aquariumtestkit.html#5in1Carl
