Hi--
I have a 60-gallon tank. Currently using a Fluval 70 (3 layer filtration). Just purchased and received a Hydro-Sponge IV from you, but am a bit confused about the installation.
Exactly how do I run an air line through the lift tube and connect it to the bull's eye? How does one clip or connect it? Can I buy a part/clip for this?
Should there be an air stone attached to this air line as well?
Can anyone show me a photo for example? These filters are totally new to me and I don't know what I'm doing!
Also, does the lift tube stay fully submerged? I have a rather tall tank.
Thank you for your time, Nancy

This picture from our Sponge Filtration Information article and Hydro Sponge Page should answer this question The lift tube is best fully submerged. Here is more from the Sponge Filtration information article: "When deciding on how high the lift tube should go (whether air driven or pump driven), consider the flow pattern you would like to achieve in your aquarium. I recommend as large a pattern as possible. Therefore, I cut the lift tubes (easily done with a hacksaw) as close to the water surface as will allow for evaporation and other minor changes in tank level and remain submerged.
With some very small tanks (such as Betta tanks), I run these sponge filters on air power and I do not use the clear lift tube at all. Instead, I only attach the air diffuser to the bulls-eye of the sponge filter.
Even when air powered, the air lifts the water through the filter to the top of the lift tube where the water then exits, however, the air bubbles will continue to the surface. The picture to the left (click to enlarge) shows these differences."
