As many of you know, I've put a lot of work into my pond, particularly now that I've given up indoor aquaria.
A byproduct of this work is that the survival rate of our baby Koi is rising rapidly - too rapidly. We went from 3 in 2014 to 5 last year. This year, I have at least 9. I've caught them and place them in a 40G stock tank so that I can net them again more easily (learned my lesson last year).
My question is this - what's the best way to go about selling them? These are beautiful fish but considering I live in a somewhat rural area, I'm finding I have to give them away, if I can get rid of them at all. I would really like to sell them at least for a few bucks.
Any advice?

Farmer's Market?
Just sit downtown with a sign that says Koi Fish...People do it for dogs.

Closest farmer's market is like 45 minutes away.

Craig's List comes to mind.
If you do not mind shipping, selling online might also be an option (assuming the Koi are still not too large to readily ship)

I did it for years when I lived in Ohio, with local competition. From my perspective, it depends on where you live and what the demand is. I lived in farm country 1/2 hour South of Cleveland. People had land to build ponds and container gardens.

I'm a half hour from a city 1/3 the size of Cleveland, literally the middle of nowhere. I might try putting a page up on Facebook and see what happens. I detest Craigslist anymore, for every 1 serious buyer there's a half dozen idiots.

Unfortunately I tend to agree with you about Craig's List, but then I am only on FB because I am in the "Public eye" You could certainly list them here too, maybe make a "for sale" board. We do get a reasonable number of non member visitors per day Carl
