If you remember, I purchased a battery powered Eheim vacuum a while back which failed. I had cleaned the contacts, and it sort of worked until recently, where it has just died.
I contacted Eheim support, and after getting the "We are closed" voicemail during business hours, they asked me first if I had a receipt, I said I could get one, then went into the issue. The factory supplied batteries leaked.
"We don't cover battery leakage, you'll need to send it to Germany and pay for repair."
Their website says "We support you in word and deed", take that with a salt lick.
I guess I'll buy another one, hopefully of a different brand and hope for better luck.
End Of Rant.

That's too bad to read. I thought replacing the batteries resolved the issue. Been selling the vacuum for years and never had the issue.

Sorry for the issue, while this does not help you, as Devon noted I have been using this particular vacuum for years without any issues.
Your experience however is not a surprise and a reason I sell and recommend few Eheim products. Not because their products are poor, far from it! The Ebo Jager Heater and Eheim canister filter are among the best, with problems being very rare. However when a problem does occur, Eheim generally requires just what you stated. They do not allow for returns via the retailer.
I often get challenged on why I do not sell the Ehiem filter or Ebo Jager heater, but when I can recommend a product that is of equal quality and functionality, I will such as the Filstar filter or Via Aqua Heater I will.
In the case of the Battery vacuum, I have yet to find one that works close to the functionality of the Ehiem. Ditto their fish feeder.

That's what I've heard, you don't need their service because they are good. I'll probably be ordering another from AAP if I don't fix this one by tearing it apart and rebuilding it.
