I have 4 Aquagro 600's above my tank and I noticed that my house plants all started to lean towards the light so I lifted the lights up more and put my Bonsai and Philly under it. Today I have placed Water Iris tubulars in mason jars with tank water under the lights to see how they will do. All this to say; these TMC light are awesome so I think your plants will do great. Devon... You need a Greenhouse! You got the thumb... Richard right... I'm doing the AAP recommended (2) 600s on a 40b and the plants are coming in hot and heavy... I also have some house plants close by who light the extra light. and yes, a greenhouse would be wonderful! I've had small ones you don't walk into... I was just thinking how I wanted one where I could put tanks into too! Plant guy can dream....

I have been growing a sponge filter bio filter with stability in my RO storage tank. Have you done this in your storage tank?

I have been growing a sponge filter bio filter with stability in my RO storage tank. Have you done this in your storage tank? mmm. Actually no. I have an airpump with an airstone, but no filter. I figured I was taking and refilling so often, it wouldn't make a difference. Wouldn't hurt thats for sure. I did think about it, but knew I had nothing cycling it. Stability would do. Carl also let me know he had sponges in his holding tanks. Never seeded it, but just had it in there as a just in case.

I have my RO tank blacked out like the can you have that lets no light in so not to grow any unwanted algae but with the tank having water in it all the time I just thought that it might help. Carl might have the answer for us if this is a wast of time or a good point.

Richard I used small sponge filters in all my RO and saltwater holding tanks after I noticed small measurements of ammonia (about .25 to .5 ppm) in these tanks. I never seeded them, and after about 4 weeks the ammonia went to 0. I suspect air born particles carried organic debris that contaminated the water, even though also blacked out and closed. The one difference between my tanks and maybe yours is ours were opened regularly to get water out for our aquarium service persons and customers Carl
