Thought I would share of the work I've been doing at the house. Two things I'm completely into... Fish tanks and gardening. Put them into one and you get a really fun start to the New Year... All the way through Summer. Here's my grow room where I have tanks and where I'm starting all my garden starts under lights. Starting right now, because in the next month or two, the grounds will be ready for the garden. So, lots of work done this weekend and lots more to do. Also completely tarp the 20 x 20 garden area So, here's whats going on. All lighting is on timers. All sponge filter and one HOB Water change station. Fill this up, then pump from it into tanks. No more carrying water down stairs! 20gal with swordtails and baby gromumi. Male betta, separated from each other. 3 of them. Hospital tank 10 gal. Two molly in there right now. Seed start/aquaponics start. Tank has large plec and 6 cichlids Seed starter and driftwood/rock soaker Sword and Molly Gromumi Betta- for now It's going to be a fun next three months!

I had this idea to use a pump to pump water out of my tank for H2O changes. First I pumped out a measured 5 gallons and also a 10 gallon. Then used a magic marker to mark lines for both measurements. Now All I have to do Is put a Pump with a hose connected to pump out my water change and then put the pump in the reserve tank I use to hold my Tap/RO mixture, "like your plastic can" and pump the fresh water into my 75 gal. tank. Now my reserve tank has a air stone and a heater so the water is the same temp as the main tank and air bubbles preserve and O2 the clean water. No more lifting 5 gal jugs to do H2O changes. I am going to run a RO line to my reserve tank and also a tap water line there too. This away I won't have to carry any water at all.... Devon... thanks for the inspiration to do this with the pictures you posted here about not needing to carry any water down stairs!

Devon... thanks for the inspiration to do this with the pictures you posted here about not needing to carry any water down stairs! Richard I'm glad it was inspiration!!! I siphon about 5 gal out with tubing, into a 5 gal bucket, then reach my line from the trash can to the tank. I have a ball valve to control flow and an return adapter to secure the tubing onto the tank. About 6 months of hauling water down stair... it was #1 on my list to fix. Takes so much time and energy and I start to run out of both. I'm very happy with my change station. Just T's off my washer line, which is down stair. Fill a 5 gal bucket. Pour into the can, then pump out of it!!!

Ok, update time. Things are growing! Since last time... my glass aquarium cracked! and started leaking on the ground. It was a crack that started from the top right, about a foot in, then down to the right side about 1 1/2 feet down. That was fun. Now I'm using the "driftwood soaker" as a tank and will grow Lettuces from it...since it's under the lights. Raised the SHO up all the up. Worked my lights up to 7 hours now. Will go to 10 soon. Room temp is about 70, humidity is about 80+ under the plastics. Heat pad under the seed starter on the left. Seeds in the egg crates starting to sprout. Seeds in bags, sprouting.

You might try replacing the plate of glass, then add a larger center brace for the broken aquarium

I think I might try jumping from a roof top onto a moving train, all while holding the aquarium....

So, I have moved on to stage two... two reasons I did the switch. First, I was planning on this switch for some time, but wanted to purchase a MH bulb instead of use the only HPS I had. Blue vs yellow, but resources are running thin, so I'm using HPS. The other reason I decided to switch was my power bill last month, went up $80 because of a heater in the grow room and one upstairs next to where the dogs sleep... It's getting warm enough now, I don't need the heat and the 1000 watts I was spending on heat 24/7, I can now switch into 1000 watts of HPS for just 12 hours, all for the plants and will save me about $60 this month. I could tell they needed more light! Went from 200 Watt SHO to 1000 Watt HPS, plus the 200 SHO. That should get things moving.

I have 4 Aquagro 600's above my tank and I noticed that my house plants all started to lean towards the light so I lifted the lights up more and put my Bonsai and Philly under it. Today I have placed Water Iris tubulars in mason jars with tank water under the lights to see how they will do. All this to say; these TMC light are awesome so I think your plants will do great.
Devon... You need a Greenhouse! You got the thumb...
