I am going to purchase the Vecton 2: V2 200 8 Watt Thursday from AAP and just want to make sure Im getting the right one.
I have a 75 gal tank. Filtered by two canister filters. First filter is a Fluvial 406, this is my sludge filter. It removes all of solids from the water before entering directly into the SunSun 303B which is filled with foam media, top to bottom as the bio part of the system. Is this enough water flow for the Vecton 2: V2 200 8 Watt to work at peak performance.
I set this up because of the plumbing of my tank through the desk. The water make two 90 deg turns on the intake and 2 90 deg turns on the output. As you know the Fluvial has limited head pressure, didn't know this until after the install. So I hooked up the SunSun after which has the head pressure of 1400 L per hr, have not figured the actual GPH because I need help to do that. ( Watched Devon's video on how to do that).

Childofiam;
The Vecton 8 Watt should be the correct choice, but to know for sure, I would suggest calculating your flow rate.
One way to do this is to place a container under the return, such as a one gallon container or 2 quart pitcher. then time the fill time. If a 2 quart pitcher is used and it takes 20 seconds to fill, this would be 40 seconds per gallon or 90 gph
I did not notice in your video, are both filters running their motors at the same time?

Just figured the GPH = 196 GPH with a 36in head that is a turn over of 2.8 times per hr. So Im good.

childofiam,
I think you'll be pleased. I've been running the Vecton 2 for 3 years in my 45 cube driven by a Rio 1000 at about a 3' head. Never experienced green water or any fish illnesses. Just remember to change those tubes. I've never had a problem with the starter(knock on wood).
Congrats, Bill

I was thinking that I need to have spare bulbs in the supply cabinet. I keep a daily log and with things like my canister filters I write down when I clean them and then will go three weeks in the future to write down when to clean the filter next. I had planed on doing this with the Vecton 2's bulb replacement. Richard

One funny experience with Vecton 2 200: at a recent filter change, I may have jiggled the hoses a bit, and once I replugged everything, the UV unit would not come back on. I unplugged it again, and took the cover off, and the end caps on both ends were loose, and one had indeed come off and was the evident cause of the problem. I put the end caps on good and tight, and have had no problem since then. This was a bit disconcerting... Otherwise, I love the unit.

Likely the end connections were already not very secure. As we note in the "TIPS" section of the TMC UV page that these are a "soft connection" and even though checked prior to shipping, many have come loose during shipping and then all it takes is a little more jostling and this comes loose Carl

I jiggle the wire and the uv comes back on. I need to take care of this soon!
