I will be getting some pictures of the Checkerboard Pigeon Snakeskin pair when they decide to stop trying to hide behind the sponge filter. A bit shy they are after all of the drama of shipment. I will be breaking ground... so to say on the new Aquarium Plant room this spring as I have out-grown the area presently. I will be putting down a one piece linoleum flooring because of all the water I slop on the floor. We are also looking at Solar panels to supply the Aquarium room with the power it needs. The room is 11.5 ft X 11.5 ft and I am looking at painting the room natural earth tones. Any Ideas you all have is a plus.

According to my meters, I am using around 2000 gallons of tap water through my RO system per month. The meter on my waste line is showing that I am throwing around 1300 gallons away. In an attempt to recycle some of the RO water out of my Tanks and reduce my water bill I am pulling 30 gallons of water from the tanks and running it through a scrubber and carbon block to remove all impurities, cut it with new RO water and remineralize, as well as adjustment of buffers. I would like to cut my tap water consumption in half but don't know how this will work at this point.
Any pointers are welcome...

Richard No ideas/thoughts as per painting (not my thing) I do have some thoughts as per the Solar energy since I have attempted to make my RV/Travel Trailer self contained electrically speaking. I use a solar panel that goes into two deep cycle batteries (Trojans which I have found to be the best), but there are even newer large household types. I switched from a modified sine wave inverter to a pure sine wave inverter. This is more efficient and provides a cleaner electrical signal Carl

Need to start your collection of hobbyist artist. I know there's a handful of them out there. That's what I'm doing for decor.
Not able to help with solar, but that's pretty neat. Sounds like you have your RO under control. Nothing I can add.

As with the water source, the more you use the more it cost. The 120.00 water bill every month doesn't bother me it is the waste, I hate waste. I have hooked up the FSB 600 to run NPX Bioplastics after the charcoal filter to see if I can clean the Nitrates out of the water. This is just an experiment to see what I come up with, it may be a waste of time and effort but I like playing around with things. At least I don't have my hands inside of the tanks playing around anymore.
I have even thought about running the used RO water through the RO unit again. Our water source has a high Nitrate level but after it goes through the RO unit it reads 0 Nitrates.
I am curious at how MPX Bioplastics remove Nitrates from the water. Anyone know?

Well... Trying to recycle RO water is not efficient so I will abandon the attempts. On a better note, The proven pair of Checkerboard Pigeon Snakeskin Discus have entered into the spawning process. They have even started to clean an area on the spawning cone. With all of the summer storms that keep coming on us as the Barometer is rising and falling on a weekly basis with thunder storms is triggering this. As you can see... they are a beautiful pair. Will the water be recirculating through the carbon/NPX. I'm not sure how much one pass will help. It will be interesting to know.
The NPX is just a food source... "food for bacteria that can quickly assimilate nitrate and phosphate." I don't know more than this.
So cool about the spawning process!

This pair is use to having someone around all the time. They are not afraid of me but come straight to me when I approach the spawning tank. They have been fanning and blowing on the eggs sense last night. This morning they did eat the infertile eggs and from what I can see, there are a lot of eggs on the spawning post, more than I can count. I hope they hatch as I did not have my GH under 80 ppm when all this happened very fast.

One of the commercial breeders I knew had a much higher GH than this. Carl

Jim and Jane Johnson have been through two spawns now and not kept their eggs. They are getting use to the vacuum tube I use to suck up their du-du and leftover food daily. The eggs are getting fertilized they just keep eating them. Jane has a darker tail than Jim as Jack has white freckles and Jasmin has a clean face. The little Blue Diamonds are growing like weeds and I am still trying to get the Serbia Cory Cats to spawn in their tank.
Carl... I am working off information from a local breeder that has water from the same source as I. He has been successful spawning at 80 ppm so that is why I am using the suggested 80 ppm. I add 32.04 grams of Discus Trace to 30 gallons of straight RO and I get 80 ppm. I then add my buffers to get 3 dkh. All of this is now going into a 75 gallon holding tank where it is added to aged and heated water. I am cycling the water through a filter with pillow moss and then through the TMC UV before it is released back into the 75 via a spray bar. I am having a fantastic time as I can now devote all of my time to the Aquatic world in my home and I owe it all to you and Devon for all your help and support of correct knowledge found no where else on the web.

hmmm. Can you separate them from the eggs once they spawn? (Not an expert breeder here)
So glad you've falling in love with aquatics. Looking forward to all your grand plans.

They will figure out that I am their best friend at some point and stop eating their eggs. You can't separate them from the eggs because the fry will feed on their slime coat. Breeders use fencing to stop the egg eating but when they become free swimmers the parents can eat the young as well so I just keep this simple as I have learned from y'all. I will note that every time the barometer falls they spawn.
