Ok, had a hectic Christmas and will be for New Years as well.
Satus - Tank is just growing a bunch of water sprite and another plant (sword like, but with ruffled leaves) to feed my kid's turtle and to give to the fish shop.
It's cycled, so I'm putting in Ferts for the plants and the occasional shot of ammonia to keep the cycle happy. I'll be posting a pitcher of the plant tank soon.
What's funny, is I neglected the 10 gallon tank plants, letting them grow to "maybe fill in" the 40 gallon. By the time I uprooted and detangled them to split into separate plants, The 10 gallon looks a lot less green, but still very planted, and the 40 gallon is a forest. I guess I left them untrimmed a bit too long.
STILL waiting on the BIG (18"x10"x10") piece of driftwood to arrive that looks the way I want.... Once that's added, the plants will be rearranged, given away, and planted nice.
That's where I still need a plan. I have added another bag of Black Flourite, bringing the total to 45lbs (3 bags). And I have 10lbs of white sand to make a "river" with that will theoretically go under the driftwood.
I've been looking at some pictures, but the ones I like start with driftwood stumps, while I'm looking for more of a driftwood branch. THEN, I'll add fish, of which I still haven't decided. Probably moving the 8 H&T Light tetras from the 10 to the 40 and leaving the 10 for mollies. No clue about other stock.
So if you want water sprite (aka water lettuce aka other stuff, scientific name in other threads), let me know and I can give you a foot of it, it grows like mad eating nitrates and ammonia, works planted or floating, and Red Eared Slider turtles (well, one of em), loves to munch on it.
