Hi. I learned about your food as I'm in the process of finding a "perfect" food for my goldfish. I'm using Sanyu in the morning, but I wanted variety for the night feeding. Before I used Spirulina 20 for long time, and as it's supposed to be good nutrition wise, I'm very annoyed with the amount of "dust" and small particles on the bottom of the jar. I also tried it in sinking sticks (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B003TV7T60/ref=sr_ph?ie=UTF8&qid=1422942506&sr=1&keywords=spirulina+20) and found it's very little in the container…perhaps is enough for just one gold fish for reasonable time.
Is there any variety of Paradigm food especially suitable for gold fish? Is it easily breakable by fingers into small pieces? Is it a good idea to soak this food before feeding?

I use it and would recommend the omnivore or herbivore food for your goldfish. It comes in chunks and you can break it how you see fit. It can be rolled in your fingers, but some people claim it's to hard. It can simply be put in a bag and broken up by hitting it with a hammer if need be. If you soak it before hand it turns into a slurry and it just depends if your fish will take the food that way. I put chunks in for my bottom feeders and little dust like prices for my top feeders.

I’ve kept fish better than 40 years. In one of my aquariums I have 8 sweet fancy goldfish - 4 from Petco and 4 imported from China. Healthy, happy and growing like weeds and have never been fed flakes or pellets in the year I’ve had them. A few months ago one of the Petco fish and one Chinese fish started to get floaty after Repashy Supergold gel food feedings. The other fish are fine after eating.
The floaty two never turn upside down, were back to normal by morning, but I could see change on the part out of water. I began experimenting with when & how much they got fed. Hand feeding the gel food so the two floaty fish got smaller portions than the other six helped. The floaty ones are more efficient finding food and ate too much.
Setting up another aquarium would make it easier to feed them, but here isn’t room for another tank. I began offering leaf lettuce, broccoli and other fresh vegetables along with the gel food which helped a lot. The floating time got shorter and the floaters recovered.
The experiment continued - I wanted no floating not even 10 minutes. I thought trying another staple diet instead of the gel could be the solution so I purchased the Herbivore flavor Clay Neighbor’s food. The goldfish get a small amount of fresh vegetables with the Herbivore. ALL eight fish are doing great! The floaty two are swimming around normally after meals. What a relief!

The Clay Neighbor's Herbivore is the only premium food with optimum fiber content, which can help with many issues

Agree that it has to do with the Fiber. I don't think the gel gets passed pretty well. Clays food is the highest fiber out, without causing issues. Glad it worked well for you.
