We received an order from Mardel (now Fritz), while only two items were available (unfortunately no Quick Cure), we did however receive the Maracyn Plus and Clout. Clout in particular fills a niche where no other product quite fits in, so it was really nice to see this product become available once more Mardel/Kordon Aquarium ProductsCarl

Thanks Carl, I ordered Maracyn Plus. See if you can get the new bottle image. What you have pictured is a much older style (from many years ago). www.fritzaquatics.com/products.php?p=maracyn_plusYou are the first to get Maracyn Plus. I called several stores listed on Fritz Aquatics and they don't have it yet. No other online retailer has it yet. Amazon is starting to list some of the products. Judy

Judy; We are lucky to be able to have such as talented artist as Steven who does most of our pictures, diagrams, and general artwork. In fact his pictures are often "stolen" where we have had to make copyright claims as his are better than those offered by the manufactures (this in part has spurred Amazon to try and obtain our artwork without water marks) My point is we just got the product in on Sat. and with 1/2 our staff out for the holiday and the usual mountain of questions coming in he has had little time to get up a new picture (as he noted in an email last night). I think you would understand We have a several pictures in his que for him to finalize and upload, hopefully this will get done in the next few days, until then we will simply use our older picture Thanks for your order! I got an email from Steven this morning... new picture is online. Steven had emailed me prior to my forum post, but I still haven't received that email - Carl sent it to me in a private message... Yahoo glitch of sorts. I didn't even get my usual email from AAP when I placed the order, but did see it in my PayPal account.
While I know AAP would never sell old/outdated products, some online retailers do (I could list a few, but won't). The bottle style that was pictured was very old....pre-2009/2010 style (when I first starting to use the treatment). For instance, Seachem redesigned their bottles. I got a NEW bottle of Stress Guard from AAP (American Aquarium Products), while another online retailer sent me the old bottle. That product doesn't really expire, so I wasn't too concerned. I am using the old bottle now (which I got just about a week before my AAP bottle) and am saving the new bottle. Many products don't list expiration dates, but do have a lot number. Anytime you are in doubt, simply call the manufacturer and give them the lot number. They can tell you if the product is still good.
I think you all should win the lottery so you can invest in equipment/materials/packaging to start producing the discontinued Aquatronics medications (just kidding). But too bad a company like Fritz Aquatics didn't realize the value in those and save those medications for home aquarists. I am just sooooooo happy they saved Mardel!
Cheers,
Judy D.

You may be on to something here! Fritz is a company that has been around for some time and one that still recognizes the importance of professional experience and customer service, so frankly I think they would be an excellent fit. I was very happy that they bought out the Mardel & Aquarium Products line, as they are a vastly better company than seargents pet care which has always been a junk products company since I got my first job working in a pet store in 1977 Carl

I'm thinking there is a handful of things we can manufacture if we win the lottery...

Thanks Carl!
Keep the Fritz-Zyme 7 in stock I will order a bottle of it in the spring (don't want to risk freezing anywhere along the way). I had special ordered some many years ago from Pet Supply Plus, but they goofed and sent a 32 oz bottle that was pretty pricey. I didn't take it.
I have a whole bottle of Quick Start (API), but have not been overly impressed with that product. I left half a bottle of Quick Start at my son's and am just using Seachem Stability now until that is gone. I will use up the Quick Start - and will place the order for Fritz-Zyme 7.

I actually prefer SeaChems ParaGuard over Quick Cure, however Quick Cure has a large following (Quick Cure & Clout have by far the most email inquiries of any other Mardel/Aquarium Products by a wide margin).
ParaGuard has a wider margin of safety in treatment of Ich, but is also less strong and nothing beats Quick Cure for Costia. With both and many other similar products, the main issue of failure in use comes from use in incorrect water parameters including too low pH & mineralization
I have used Fritz-Zyme going back to their original products in the late 70s

So is the FZ #7 the same bacteria as Turbo Start or is it more like Stability?

Fritz-Zyme #7 is the same as Turbo Start. Stability is different and more concentrated.
Fritz-Zyme #7 is more of a pure bacteria starter than Stability (which I would call more of a cycling aid), however since I never count on a pure cycling starter, I prefer Stability for its economy and ability to help quickly in established aquariums with sudden bio load surges (for whatever reason)/ This said, Fritz certainly has its place, especially for newbies.

Yeah, I look at Turbo Start as a "starter" whereas Stability is a "maintainer". They have different functions. The #7 looks like a good option if I want to cycle a new tank again though, considering nobody around here stocks TS anymore...

Carl and we'll know which one is a better cycle aid with an upcoming experiment we have. Stability vs Fritz. With a control. We'll be able to see how they both work

How exciting! Looking forward to the results. I have enough bacteria additive on hand right now, but do plan to order Fritz-Zyme #7.
Want to let you folks know that Pet Mountain has Maracyn Plus in stock. I wrote to them asking if it was Fritz Aquatics or the old style bottles as pictured. It is indeed the OLD product. Where did they find product over two years old? Sentry stopped making that a good two years ago -- or more?. The bottles they have pictured are even pre-Sentry. The more recent bottles Sentry made look like the Fritz bottles (without the Fritz name, of course).
I wasn't planning on buying from Pet Mountain.... I was just curious. That is one company I will never buy from again. To anyone buying from a discount pet supply site, if the price seems too good, check first to see what the lot numbers of their stock is. Chances are, they are selling product several years old.

While I am far from a fan of Pet Mountain for a myriad of moral reasons, as recently as one year ago there was still some Sentry/Mardel products "floating around" at Central Pet and it likely would still be usable today.
As well since Pet Mountain is really Lee Mar Pet Supplies, a wholesaler/distributor masquerading as a retailer, it is even more likely they would have had some in deep in their large warehouse in Vista CA
BTW, Central Pet is the largest general supply pet supply distributor in North America, they supply PetCo along with smaller retailers as well. They are also a much more ethical company in their business practices, as even though they give breaks to larger retailers due to volume, they at least allow clear methods for little guys to get product at prices nearly as good as the big boys.
