Very Interesting. Never seen a fish shed it's skin. Only change colors. Thanks for sharing.

I was up at 6:30 this morning (I'm a dedicated night owl so this is unusual) so I decided to give the babies some Spirulina 20 (I generally feed them somewhere around midnight or 1 AM and then, maybe, a 2nd time when I get up to go to the bathroom later). They instantly "came alive, and spent a good half hour cruising the tank (I've never seen the adults do this, they're so laid back you'd think they were dead)--it was light enough out that they could easily be seen moving around the tank in "search mode", gliding up and down the glass and over, under, around and through objects (such as the barrel and the sides of the sandbox), skimming just above the objects by about 1/4". When they came up to an "obstacle" that was at a right-angle, the distance between them and the object did not change, they just followed the contours.

The tank the "babies" are in has a bare bottom at the moment (other than the sandbox, and a little bit of "spilled" sand); that said, I gave them a little bit of the Hikari Micro Wafers last night before turning the lights out, and they almost immediately (they don't always react to food right away) started skimming the bottom of the tank, and you could see them sucking up wafers like little vacuum cleaners as they went !

More pics... The bottom of the tank was bare for a while during Ich treatment... ...after I added the Torpedo Beach sand (and switched the barrel for a Cichlid Stone): {this sand vacuums very well--without much getting sucked up into the "waste bucket"}
