My name is Flick Ford and I'm here to introduce myself to the forum community. I'm an artist/author specializing in illustrated books about fish. I was an avid aquarist from the mid '60s to the late '70s, and again from the mid '80s to the mid '90s. For the past 11 years I've been trying to start up again but have been thwarted for one reason or another - until now! Things in the hobby have changed so much I'm sure I'll have a lot of questions for the community. I do have a vision of where I want to go with it based on past experience, but I'm not sure where to start the next thread. I'd like to give a bit more background as it is pursuant to questions I have moving forward. I guess my first questions are about water chemistry. Where should I post the next thread?

Well, welcome back to the hobby Flick and it has been a pleasure working with this far over at AAP. You should add that your a great artist at that...Your book is one that I show off anytime someone is willing to talk fish with me It will be great to see your living art work come to life. For your question on water chemistry, I would say in the Question/Concern section and just start a new thread. It's in the top right and says "create thread". Great to have you here.

Welcome!
I just joined recently and everyone is so helpful! As are Carl's articles on the American Aquarium Products page!
What books have you done? I've been having problems finding freshwater fish books recently, especially those with a dedicated subject, such as "Tetra", and "Corydoras". I have some good older books, but if I remember right the most recent copyright I have is 1993. Do you do illustrations or photos?
I think you'll find this forum very helpful.

I thought your name was familiar! I was just checking a couple of back issues of Tropical Fish Hobbist and found the "article" in the July '13 issue. Beautiful paintings!! Although they only featured 4 of yours.

Welcome flickford! I just took a glance at your book. It looks very nice. Great job on the paintings. They're extremely life-like. Feel free to share your knowledge with fish with other on the forum as it seems you know a lot. Renee
