Soooo this tank has been sitting idle with just substrate and a few fish. I finallly got around to scaping it. It will have quite a bit of growing in to do as most plants are more plantlets than plants lol It will not be stocked for approx 2 weeks to give the plants a bit of time to settle in. As for whats going in it, yep i have an idea, but you wont know until they are actually in the tank

There are currently no fish in the tank, just some cherry shrimp. I need to give the plants a little time to get established before the fish go in.

Another great tank, thanks for sharing. With how much you have going on, you could also start selling tickets to "alasse aquarium"

We are going though some major algae issues in here, slowly winning the battle I think. But the tank is looking a little ragged lol Give it a few months and it should be looking much better. I'll be adding DIY CO2 this weekend all going well, I now have the bottles, just gotta get the airline and we ready to go.

Beautiful setup! I especially like the red-tailed shark. I admittedly don't know a lot about algae, but hopefully this might help. Algae Control Keep us posted! Renee

I will grab an updated pic tonight...
Algae is settling, just takes time for the tank to matures properly. Dosing certain spots with a mix of dino spit which is killing it off.

I haven't added the CO2 yet. And I am only sporadically spot treating the algae.
The plants just needed some time to grow in, they will out compete the algae eventually

We is beating the algae war!! Not fully gone, but decidedly improved! In stock currently RTBS Endler Males (hopefully going tomorrow) Cherry shrimp 5-6 pep juvies (doing a fab job with algae) Tomorrow my order of new fish is meant to arrive, I'm very much looking forward to actually seeing fish in this tank. Hopefully the new guys will bring Bash(ful - RTBS) out to play as he is extremely elusive, suprising considering his last owner had to put him in with large cichlids cause he was a major bully! Oh well we will see if he comes out or not, I hope so

Looks great. From where I'm sitting, there is not much of an algae issue. It is a balance between bioload, light, and Co2. I like how you fill in with the plants. Thanks again for sharing.

Yep new tanks take a bit to balance, this had very very little to no bioload. I need to reset the light timers as power went off a few time, and now they are out of whack. Pretty sure they are due for new tubes also (this I think is the major cause of the algae outbreak)
devon - if you think there is much of an algae issue now, you should have seen it before lol (hard to see by photos)

I meant to say, NOT much of a problem... But it is hard to see close up. I know algae will grow in a newly cycling tank too. Might have something to do with it. Anyways... I added a new tank dive to my tank thread. I thought I would share. everythingaquatic.proboards.com/thread/3516/40-gallon-upgrade
