Thanks for the suggestions!
Any thoughts on altering the water flow in my tank?
Can I put water straight from the tap into my turtle tank or do I need to let it sit for 24 hours before adding it? I seem to have to fill my 4 - 1gallon jugs every day and dump them in 24 hours later.

Simply adding an air stone would break the surface tension I have often simply added water straight from the tap, all the while adding increments of Prime or other water conditioners while I fill. I also generally only change 25-40% of the water, sometimes even less. Hi all, The place where the UV light goes in my canister filter filled with water and the leads are very corroded now. I never actually turned on the light, and I'm assuming it's a good thing I didn't. Is this a problem? It's probably time I start buying some new filters and media for my canister. Does www.americanaquariumproducts.com/ have a media/filter kit or bundle I can buy to get everything I would need? Thanks! Justin

Hard to believe it's been almost 2 years! Yesterday, my Sun Sun 404B started making a much louder noise than it used to. I cleaned the media tonight and it did not help. Any idea what this means? Is the motor going bad? Does it need to be cleaned somehow other than just the media?

Is the motor going bad? Does it need to be cleaned somehow other than just the media? Usually noises with ANY canister filter can be traced back to the impeller or the impeller well. If the grommets are degraded or missing, if the small washer is degraded or missing, if the well is rounded out to more of an egg shape (not repairable), if there is debris in the impeller well, then you will most likely have a noisy filter Further Help: www.americanaquariumproducts.com/Aquarium_Filtration.html#canistertroubleCarl

I had no idea I could take the impeller out! Thank you for the suggestion! I did take it out and clean it, though there was almost nothing to clean off. The well felt fine. It seems be pumping water just as well as it used to. Next time I'll try plugging it in without the impeller in to see if it still makes a noise. Is there anything else I can do? Should I try to take it apart?

Should I try to take it apart? Just keeping a clean impeller & impeller well. Sometimes some lubrication with Petroleum Jelly will help, but this can wear off if this is just a bandaid for another problem. The should be no noise without the impeller, but you can take a screw driver and insert into the well and "feel" for a relatively even magnetism. Carl
