oh big fishies! How the filter hold up through the trip. Fluidizing well? I've had my pump in v-rock in a container for some time now. It works nicely. I see your fish like the stand you made too. Lots of little spaces

Hi Devon Sadly the FSB Filter is barely churning right now. I watched the service clean the tanks a couple days ago and they did not clean Big Tank Filters or water pump. They clean filters every other month apparently. So I will be cleaning the water pump and see if that will kick the churning in the FSB Filter up - hope not to have to take apart the FBS Filter again but we shall see. I am very sure the service does not know much about FSB Filters. The water pump can not go another month without cleaning - lucky me. Funny that there was a mishap with one of my other tank HOT Filters while we were gone - it stopped working completely and the service had to come clean it and restart it - for an extra fee of course. So when the service cleaned the HOT Filters the other day, a few hours later I noticed that one was not working! I took it apart and found nothing wrong internally - thought maybe impeller was dirty but nope - I put it back together and it ran fine. Not sure what's up with the HOT Filters.

Try shutting the valve to the sand filter and then turning the filter upside down and back a few times. If the valve is closed, no sand will be pushed through the filter and it might loosen up whatever is preventing fluidization. I have to do this if I ever lose power to the filter.

Great tip Devon - and it really works! Apparently, at times in the "life" of the FSB Filter some larger media gets jammed up and the churning slows way down. Turning off the valve and tipping the FSB Filter a few tiimes, then opening up the valve again did the trick and the churning is acceptable again. Thank you Devon for saving me from an extra hour of work!
