We built a small patio yesterday to hide all of the hoses and electrical - it's made of flat sheets of limestone, nearly 1000 pounds in all. I'm pretty happy with where the pond is. It's the first time since the pond was built over 10 years ago that my mother in law felt that there was enough lily pad cover that she didn't need to buy water hyacinth for shade. I also planted irises last year even though my mother in law said they had never been able to get them to bloom. They have bloomed this year PROFUSELY. Here's a couple of pics. The left pic is a wider view of the pond - you can see the irises in the shadows to the left and the new patio in the foreground (I'm standing on it). The pic on the right is a closer-up view of the waterfall. I put Parrot's Feather in the collecting pool to battle with the algae - after 3 weeks, the Parrot's Feather is winning! Also, I built custom pots out of plastic baskets and placed two stands of corkscrew rush in the top spillway to make it look more natural.

Your Pond looks fantastic. Must be nice to walk by that each time you go into your house. Very nice job.

It absolutely is, unless you're in a hurry. One tends to want to stand there and stare at the fish instead of actually going inside.

Your pond looks awesome!! kinda makes me miss my old days building and taking care of ponds The sheets of limestone are a nice addition I have found that Iris usually take a season to bloom, but once established they then bloom every season and become somewhat of a weed often requiring removal of some of the tubers in well established ponds after several seasons of growth Carl

I can’t not get plants to grow in mine. My koi destroy them before they even have a chance. I tried the floating basket things but I still have never had any luck... don’t understand it. Now the water lettuce grew like crazy but over took my pond. Had so many floating roots made it to thick for my koi to swim
