just an update, school is doing really well. i know my tank is by far way to small but there a few species that came up when i went to a petstore that was actually around the corner from the campus. PS petstore by me = bad news. good news for the owners though anyway it is a professional maintence and set business... now traditionally i would of guessed that their prices are more expensive, but for some reason this guy is really cheap on SW fish. I picked up a nice 2.5 inch blue tang for 40 bucks. Now i know they get to about 12-13 inches so he is on the flight with me back in DEC. But traditionally in the past i had gotten bleu tangs and especially small ones and they wouldnt do well. Not eat and sick. But this guy was a steal IMO, alittle pricey for the size but he is very friendly and eats like no tomorrow. and no paracites. I went back looking for a yellow tang, they have 3-5 inchers at 35 dollars. They wont have little guys until wednesday, but what i saw today that caught my attention was the powder blue tang. Traditionally i expect them listed around 75 -125 dollars but i found some 2 1/2 inchers at 45 dollars. Is this a good price, i know they will get massive but for 45 and send him back to NY? And what about powder blues? traditionally i always stayed away from them for the same reasons, they dont tend to do well in aquarias from what i heard. But they are nice coloration and eatting like my hippo. Worth a shot?

The prices seem high to me, but when I had my store a few years back in LA, fish are generally sold real "cheap" there. Here are my prices: *Blue Tang (4")- $29.99 *Yellow Tang (4") -$19.99 *Powder Blue Tang- $59.99
As to Powder Blue Tangs, these are delicate fish, but I have had success with Powder Blue Tangs in tanks with large amounts of growth of caulerpa algae, live rock, and excellent filtration which included UV Sterilizers.
