It's not locked , (i dont think) the photobucket address is cashay_photo.57801@uploads.photobucket.com The pictures are not that good as i said before they are hard to get close to, I also have another question though how well do Java ferns grow in 15 watt light? I had gotten the light bulb from you before which I love! but I notice the tetra's seem to really calm down with lower light, So i thought maybe i would try the light I had (that came with the tank) and see how they do, But I don't want all my plants dieing either... I also sent the only two pictures I had to your email address from here.

The photobucket URL (address) is not formatted correctly, it should look like this: s426.photobucket.com/albums/pp349/DEMFISH/Sorry As for the light, your idea is certainly worth a shot, especially since Java Ferns are not demanding plants as per lighting requirements. Your idea also brought to mind something I should of suggested earlier and that is the use of Almond Leaf to add natural tannins to the water which will not only darken the water, but also improve water parameters as per the requirements of most Amazon River fish such as Cardinals. It also has the side benefit of controlling Aeromonas bacteria. I personally like Bio Lif as a source of Almond Leaf Extract, which was initially recommended to me by an Asian Breeder in LA. Carl

That is the one i actually send the pictures to from my phone so it automatically downloads to photo bucket. sorry about that. where would I get this Almond leaf? Although the use of Indian Almond Leaves is not new, it has recently caught on with many different forms of Almond Leaf Extract, powders, etc. I prefer the Bio Lif, based on my own use, and friends in the "business" with much experience in breeding, etc. It is more pure and concentrated without the additives. I sell it in my store: Bio Lif at $4.99 However I know many aquarium stores now sell this or similar products such as Atison’s SPA . Carl

well I will definitely check on that at the store, I have changed the light out on my tank back to the lower wattage, although it looks really dull now It really seems to have calmed them down alot! They were not zooming around the tank like they were trying to get away, Also I bought one of those tiny mini hydro heaters... looks like a flat hot water bottle... But in a few hours it brought the water to 80* this morning it was still at 80* Will it keep getting hotter? those you don't turn up or down... At first I thought it was getting to hot and I started to panic of course ready to unplug it, they were all just sitting around in different spots but a couple looked like they were trying to catch their breath so to speak... But I left it alone actually expecting to find them dead, because of that, but when I got up this morning, they were fine, calm, eating good, more to the front of tank.. they seemed really relaxed! so now I have to just try and keep the KH straight, I have been vacuuming it out every other day, with 25% water changes every other day.... changing out the bio bags every week, until it breaks me anyway.... I also added a little bit of salt to the tank, cash didn't seem to like it very well but I want to see how the tetra's do with it. It won't hurt them right?

The Mini Hydor Heaters simply change the ambient temperature a few degrees depending on the size of the aquarium and have not temperature controls. They are quite safe by design, the only draw back is that they are not thermostatic and cannot respond to room temperature changes as a thermostatic heater would. For example, your tank was heated from 76F to 80F, however should your room temperature drop to 70, your Hydor Heater would only bring it up to 74F. For this reason these heaters should not be used in rooms or other locations where the ambient temperature changes regularly/rapidly. As for the Salt, this is safe for Tetras, I generally do not exceed 1 tablespoon per 5 gallons. Please see this article: Aquarium Answers; SaltCarl

I dont think I put in "even" a tablespoon just short of one, But when I bought the salt it has a scooper with it, that says it's a table spoon. but I declare it looks like more. And I normally keep my house at 74 degrees, But the water always seem to stay at 76 no matter what, but I dont plan on changing it right now, So thanks for that info It will help me as the temps change out side and I do change the temps in house.... Have I ever told you Carl how much I appriciate your help? If not I am saying it now! Thank You!

OH NO! I just read the article you have above and it said for tetra's no more then a tea spoon for a 5 gallon I thought it was a tablespoon... I recommend no more than 1 teaspoon per 5 gallons for these fish (this is one TEASPOON, not tablespoon!). Oh Lord and I have used that seachem buffer, plus a wondershell, I'm getting real worried the more I read that article! Please tell me they wont be harmed before I get home and vacuum it out....

it should be fine....just do a water change when you get home of your normal 25% and don`t add salt when you refill. rest assured....all should be just fine.

Bill is right (thanks for coming to the rescue Bill) ;D That is a mis-print on my part, as although I generally keep salt low with Tetras, 1 tablespoon is fine and I will correct this. Your VERY welcome! AND I thank others such as Bill who are also a great help Carl

try not to let it get much warmer than that if you can and all should be fine.

I dont know what wattage it is, It is for a 2-5 gallon, It's tiny.. They just seem so much more comfortable. They come to the front of the tank when I go up to it, They use to zoom to the back and go balistic when I first got them. But if you say 84 is ok, I will plug it back in. I was scared if I left it plugged in today while I was at work it would go up to 90 ... I dont want to fry them!

This would be a 7.5 Watt model, which honestly cannot mathematical increase 5 gallons of water more than 4-5 degrees above the ambient tank temperature, as you need 25 watts for every 10 degrees of ambient temperature per 10 gallons you need to raise your aquarium temperature.
I am glad to read that your Cardinals seem better, the higher temperature may have a part in this. ;D
