I posted this in another thread but thought it deserved to stand on its own. I bought some African root wood and added it to my tank in a wholesale makeover. Here's a look at what I did with the wood (and a piece of slate I found in the back yard): Here's three wider views showing the left and right sides as well as the whole tank: Finally, I thought it was cool that my Betta showed an INSTANT interest in what I did. The first picture is difficult to make out - on the right-hand side of the wood, where I propped it up with the slate rock, there's a nice little tunnel that he loves. The black blob almost dead center is him. The second picture is him exiting the tunnel into the center of the structure:

Ouch, that hurts. I'm headed over to the tank right now to check it.

Any advice on cleaning so that I don't have to do it all over again?

Any advice on cleaning so that I don't have to do it all over again? Generally it should not be too much problem to vacuum around your decor, especially since it is not too cluttered (you should see some tanks I have had to clean over the years with decor piled in mounds and the client desiring it all be placed a certain way) Carl

I'm afraid I don't have any input about vaccuming like this since my tanks aren't set up this way but I must say you have some very nice pictures. Very nice setup. I envy your fish having such a nice tank. xd

You should be able to clean around and under that pretty easily. I wouldn't move anything to clean under it on a regular basis. I only move my rocks to clean under every few months. In fact, I've never moved some of the ones in my 10 gallon.

The wood fits together rather precariously, so I might just use my smaller gravel vac to clean around that. Takes a bit longer but it's less like letting a bull run free in the china store...

One of the larger dalmatian mollies enjoys biting the inside of my arm when I'm messing with stuff in the tank.
