I am a new member and I'm excited about joining. We have a 55 gallon tank (4' wide) that is at least 15 years old that we recently set up (again) with freshwater plants and fish. We know we need more light to keep the plants healthy. Currently we have two 23" wide X 3" wide housing that use one standard florescent bulb of 17 3/4" in each one. Each housing sits on top of a glass canopy. I would like to retrofit these with a 13 watt 21 3/4 inch T2 fixtures. If I want to link a another T2 light to it do I need to purchase another fixture or just the blub? I have spent most of the weekend reading your very knowledgeable articles on lighting and decided I need a 12 year old to help me figure this all out.

First I am glad to read you have found our articles helpful Each T2 Fixture is complete and linkable, but you would need a complete fixture to link to another; the bulbs are only for replacement of an old bulb. For high light needs plants, you might consider the GroBeam LED (the T2s work well for most plants, but are not as intense as the GroBeam or SHO) Carl
