Octopus are amazing in their ability to regenerate arms, as well their personalities are great; they remind me a lot of under water kittens/cats Carl

I concur that octopuses are amazing creatures. They are extremely bright for invertabrates and even seem playful if not very curious with scuba divers.
I do wonder if they get very tame like fish and beg for food and such. I believe I have heard of octopuses and squids enjoying people petting them in captivity.

as well....any suggestions n how to get him to eat better. i have been feeding him cocktail shrimp, mussels, mysis shrimp, and live clams. he doesnt seem to have eaten any of it . i realise some fish require time to start eating...but these guys should have vorascious appetites. not toooo concerned yet....but i will be soon. btw, he loves his new mirror....

He's really cool!!! I hope he starts eating for you though. Maybe he just needs some more time to get adjusted. At least he ate while he was at the store, so that's encouraging.

I found that my Octopii usually ate fiddler crabs or other inexpensive FW mini crabs quite well. Crabs and similar are their natural diet, so this may stimulate him Carl

this fellow`s mantle is about an inch and his arms outstretched are about 2 feet long so a fiddler may be too large and would die too quickly before he was eaten. what i thought about are ghost shrimp. i can usually get these guys from between .33-$1 each and i doubt they would suffer long. as you all know....i am very against live food, but i am a lil concerned....altho there are now a few bites out of the clam....so all hope may not be lost. also when i add mysis shrimp he changes colors quickly. he gets very excited. we have also bought a mirror for him and some shiney opalescent round glass pieces that he seems to like. i will hopefully be able to figure out how to add a video on here for you all to see.
I don`t think i have ever been this excited about aquatics before. even went out and replaced my hydrometer for a very expensive refractometer today. I want this guy to stay happy for his short life. In defense of these animals....they are FAR to intelligent to be kept in an aquarium so it is extremely important to me to constantly simulate his mind always...

a lil something to add....the octopus spends alot of time hiding...unless the tv is on...then he attaches himself as close to the tv as possible and watches. he seems to like the "scooby doo" cartoons that my son loves the most.....

Haha, that's so funny that he likes Scooby Doo. My angel fish likes to watch the TV when we play video games in the den. Cute!
Pics are great! It looks like he and the star are becoming friends!
You said that he has a short life. What is the usual lifespan for these guys?

ROFL He must be the world's first octopus Scooby Doo fan! Based on what I heard and his response, he also seems to be a fan of infomercials and commercials. lol
It's also very interesting that they try to escape if they get bored. Octopus are very intelligent animals, even more than I thought previously.
Very fun to watch! I enjoyed your video quite a bit!

Nice video Bill! He's smaller than I thought he was from the pictures. I guess I always imagine octopi as being big giant things. Maybe I'm thinking of squid...
I agree with Carl. He needs a sophisticated intelligent name...

"CC" should be easy to remember.
Maybe you can teach him his name via Braille ;D
