I got 2 new Apple snails the other day after my two tone snail died quite some time ago, here he is to jolt some memorys s293.photobucket.com/albums/mm78/Daharkazangel/?action=view¤t=DSC00996.jpg I loved that snail hehe.. Anyway i thought it was time i got some more and the two i got are not in good shape (i couldnt resist!!, i know i know) . I think snails are under rated by pet shops but thats another story. Anywhoo i start work quite early in the mornings and am up at 5 or 6 most days. Yesterday i got up to make some tea and in the middle of my kitchen was a little yellow blob. Now given the time of the morning it took some seconds to realise my snail had made its way out of the tank and into my kitchen!! I looked and him once, looked away, said hang on, looked back and said outta loud 'Thats a aquatic snail'!! My last snail never left his tank and all my tanks have no lids, i didnt really think these guys would leave the water and go so far!! Anyway i now have both snails in with my grumpy 4 year old betta and had to go dig the lid out of storage!! I can now only imagine if he was a few metres over more i would have squashed him!! So thats my snail story, and i guess ive learnt alot from it hehe.... Thanks for reading!! Ps. my Angels are laying right now, maybe these will finally hatch lol =)

This is an interesting story! I have never had this happen with my aquarium snails (although my pond snails have "left home" before) Carl

Lol the snails fine, he was 'imside his shell when i found him, nice and moist lol. I was suprised there was no 'snail trail' as such, you know like garden snails. I couldnt tell the path he took to get where he was. Anyway my bettta is enjoying the company now, hey has anyone hand fed there snails?? My old one use to with ease and i did with one of my snails already. You just wait untill they are really close to the surface and hold some food for them, i love the way they eat!! Hehe, the little joys in life, (i probably sound insane, its just a snail right, oh well someones gotta love em!)

Hey guys, i have yet another story about the SAME snail!!!!
I was doing a water change yesterday and noticed one snail was missing (was there some hours earlier) And given i now have a lid i couldnt figure out where he got out (again!). Then i realised the lid does have a gap near the filter that a small snail could literally squeeze past. So as soon as i realised hed excaped i did the dash around the tank thinking he couldnt of got far, or further then last time!!! But to no avil the bugger was gone. After some time later and alot of crawling on all fours i gave up and considered my snail M.I.A. Then this morning (as i said last time early starts sleepy state etcetc....) I did my morning in the usually routine, when i went to brush my teeth i scuffed something hard UNDER a towl on the floor in the bathroom. At first i thought maybe it was a sinker or something (again very early, not thinking too clear) BUT the i realised i nearly squished my snail who had made it a incredible distance from the tanks!!! I mean this is a whole different room!!! So i removed him from under the damp towl and popped him back into the tank AGAIN. I am now stuck on how to keep him in there!!!!!!
So thats my story guys, this snail has at least 3 lives lol. Hes defently got a sense of adventure!!!!

Can you get some of that plastic canvas from a craft store (comes in a small round piece too) and cut it just so it fits that area?
That is one lucky snail!!!

Maybe there's a day to cover the area around the filter (as Suzie suggested). That is one hardy snail with a taste for adventure! lol

Wow, that is one adventurous snail. You must walk rather softly too, I probably would have squished the poor guy if this happened to me. Good luck securing him Carl
