why is that, because the fish are for commercial consumption so you can't use drugs?

That would be the reason Sammie. The fish Bill worked with on the fish farm were raised for human consumption, not as pets so drugs/treatments that could be used on them were very limited.
Back to the betta, her appearance is no better/worse than yesterday. Although she seems a bit weak (unless she is starting to rest for the night since it is 7 p.m.)
I am going to give her her final dose of Furan 2 today. After that, I'm not sure how I will treat her. Seeing as the blanket tricked worked with my goldfish, maybe fooling around (carefully of course) to see if any everyday thing will work to help her. Something simple like the blanket idea.
I am doing this because I really am out of options. Since I do not feel like I am equipped to give her baths (no offense Carl) and because of her age, I'll just try to treat her well and hope she pulls through.
However, I realized she was too close to a sunny window. It was not a problem in the winter but now with the warm weather, the temperature in her 1 1/2 gallon went up to 86 F roughly. I forgot to unplug her heater for the warmer weather today. (It is a one of those mini heaters without a thermastat build in FYI.)
This may have contributed partially though it normally has been from 82-84 F in her 1 1/2 gallon lately. I moved her away from the window so hopefully it will help.
Keep your fingers crossed that she makes it!
Thanks everyone for the advice and help. She's a fighter, has been since she was born, I'm not giving up on her yet!
Renee

We should have asked this question, as heat can be a major contributor to Columnaris. In fact unlike Ich, one aspect of treating Columnaris is to lower the temperature to 75 F (24 C)

I remember daying my tank temperature was 83 F when I first posted the topic but I guess I should have mentioned it again sooner.
As for how she is doing, she has a small rectanglar shaped white thing on her side (it may be raised slightly.) her nose hasn't really changed and though I didn't look her over a super lot, I didn't see any other white areas. I am really hoping the diagnosis is right because the Furan 2 and Kanaplex should have wiped the stuff out. It is maybe 78 in her tank now.
I'm also concerned I may have overdosed on the last dose of Furan 2. She is going up for air more than usual. But seeing as this is the last dose, I will do a 50% water change to get it out of the water which should fix the problem.
I'm going to try to keep the temperature low for her.
Thanks for the info by the way Carl.
The betta is still eating well. She's eating her pellets reluctantly but is voraciously eating her flake food which she loves.

You're right, it was in the very first post However, I do note temperature at least three times in the Columnaris Article. Good Luck with her. Carl

Thanks. Sorry. I guess I overlooked that too then. She is free of white areas except for a slightly raised irregular rectangular area on her side. If I recall correctly, her mother died similarly except she had a lot more white rectangle like areas on her. (Of course she was also weak and going worse than her daughter.) The female betta (not the mother) also still has that lump on her nose but it does not seem to be getting worse. she's eating and seems to be back to normal strength. (I mentioned she seemed a little weak earlier.) Let's hope she pulls through. My biggest worry right now is that I misdiagnosed her. I hope that is not the case. If she worsens, I may try a medicated wonder shell. The mother was Melonga and died about a year back.

Great news! The betta seems to have recovered! I can't see her real well because I have a towel over her tank and the MB from the wondershell still has her water very blue. But she is eating and looking for food/looking better in general. Looks like she is on the road to/if not already recovered. On a negative note, one of my female black phantom tetras got caught in the filter and died. R.I.P. fishy...
