Just thought id give you the run down of my tanks, Currently have 3 running with one of the 10 gals set up tinight I used substrate from my 100 gal and the water ( a very established tank guys) and the filter is from the other10 gal betta tank. It is also cycled. I didnt clean the filter so heres hoping that my new 10 gal cycles quick!! So enough dribbling here they are: TANK ONE: 10 gal No filter 30Watt heater 28c 1 Male crowntail betta 2 tiny .5cm Bristlnose catfish babies (cant catch them!) TANK TWO: 10 gal 150watt heater (its all i have spare i know overkill lol) 26c H.O.B filter rated for 30-40 gal tank. 1 cory bronze. Has swim bladder. Is my cycle buddy. (dont worry it should be 'smooth') TANK THREE: 100 gal Internal filter (poop but it does for now) 300 Watt heater 26c 7 Angels 2 flame gourmais 2 Bristlnose catfish (pair) 9 neons (aka floating mars bars) 9 rummnose tetras 5 Black neons 1 yellow lab (drib accumliated) 6 cory cats 5 khuli loaches 4 female swordtails 1 red tail shark 2 clown loaches. Thats it guys!! Excited to have another 10 in my mitts =) It was getting dusty in the garage. Will get a sponge filter for betta and maybe a smaller heater for the first 10 gal but i dunno should i?? May pop some guppies in the 10 when its finished, kindo over the single male betta thing. Anyway tell us your thoughts!! =) Angel

I think the Sponge filters are a good idea for the 10 gallon aquariums. I would get as large of a sponge filter as you feel comfortable with, such as a Hydro Sponge #2I would consider a Large Sponge Filter for your 100 gallon aquarium too, although not often considered for large aquariums, these are an inexpensive way to provide complimentary filtration to what you already have or even primary filtration. The Hydro Sponge #5 PRO or even a Hydro Pond 2 (which can easily handle a tank this size by itself) are worth considering. Good luck with your aquariums Carl

Looks good. I'm glad you found some tankmates for the crabby betta! It seems like the cycling of the new 10 gallon should go pretty smoothly. Anytime I've used filter media from an established tank, I've had no problems.

Looked into sponge filters carl and i swayed towards a HOB for the betta. Its the tiniest Hob ive ever seen. For a sponge i would have had to use my only pump or buy another one. And since i have so many double adapters attached to a power board i opted for one more filter. Does anyone else have issues with cables??? I have as said a powerboard with 3 double adapters all atached to one power point that has a surge protecter on it and it also shares part of the entertainment system.... So basically 3 tanks...one outlet. and a whole lot of cords.. Crazy hey. =)

YES!! Luckily at least my two tanks run off of two different outlets but I did have to buy powerstrips/surge protectors for both tanks and I have cord craziness going on behind my tanks. On the 38g I'm running a HOB, a separate big sponge filter run by a powerhead, heater, air pump, and two light fixtures and my 20g only has one less cord because it only has one light fixture but the same amount of other equipment. And the big tank sits on top of my entertainment center so all the cords from that are run behind with the fish tank cords as well. When I step back there to switch off the tank stuff for cleaning it's like a jungle of electrical cords, it's just insane but as of yet I have not figured out a better way to do things. So I really sympathize about the cord issues.
As for your betta I have kept bettas with other peaceful community fish many, many times and it has always worked out well for me. I always thought they made such a pretty addition to a community tank and with all the other fish around the bettas were always more active. Maybe put some mollies or platys in with your betta and make the tank more interesting.

Sounds great. This is an unusual shaped aquarium. Most 120s are 6 feet (about 180 cm). Have fun with your new tank Carl

marine tanks are great fun. as you know i even keep an octopus....but be aware, marine tanks can be very expensive when compared to FW. as well...be aware too that livestock is expensive and you NEED to do homework with every purchase. many many combos won`t work and ther are alot of poisonous critters that have to be treated accordingly....

So my tank is going to happen, im thinking it will be 4x18x18. OR 4x2x2. If i go the smaller i can get it within 2 weeks, 3-4 for the larger. Im really stuck on ideas but. I dont want a oscar, im thinking no to saltwater and the only other 'set up' that comes to mind is malawi or rift lake. Really wish i had some one to yabber on too about it lol. What would you guys do if you were me?? (Decided a def NO on saltwater. Not quite ready but def on the books. Will have a few grand spare before i dive into that ally lol )

So i got a quote for the 4x2x2 today. $720 with a stand. The 4x18inx18in is only $380. Basically 110 gal or 70. I think ive decided on the 70 and it will be a malawi/mbuna tank. 720 is just to much for a little bit more water. Can still do a lot in a 70 just no oscar. Hey but i can put a oscar in my 100 if i ever wanted too hehe, and put the Angels in the 70. Oh so many ideas lol. So i should get it up and running within 3 weeks.

Congratulations on your decision!
Mbuna should be nice, just make sure to make a lot of caves and places to hide. Also purchase Malawi Cichlids carefully so as to not have too many "battles"
We have many members here that have kept Malawi Cichlids that might have suggestions about specific species

I hope all goes well Wed. in getting this aquarium
6 x 4 x4 in feet is BIG, did you mean in feet (this would be even bigger in meters)? That comes to 718 gallons or 2717 liters (3.785 is the multiplier for converting).
This would have to be acrylic as glass aquariums cannot be safely built past 2 feet in width
