I got my fun betta leaf hammocks that I ordered from Carl yesterday. I put one in Finn's tank and was happy because he seemed pretty interested in it but wasn't actually using it. Then this evening I came in my room and saw him on it! I got all excited and took a picture of him and then realized that he wasn't enjoying it. He died on it! He hadn't been his old self for a while. I figure he was just getting old. I tested the water just in case, and it came out all normal, so I guess he was just an old dude. Now I have to decide who to move into his tank. The new Delta, Peter, or Pink with the scoliosis. Incidentally, I put the other hammock in Pink's tank to see if she would like it. So far she hasn't figured out what it is yet, haha.

That's really rough. You're all happy because the fish likes the new doodad and then it turns out to be dead. Sorry.

That sucks Stephanie I am sorry that Finn used this for his final rest. I hope Pink or one of your other Bettas will find the hammock useful. Carl

Sorry to hear this. At least it is a sign that he liked it if he chose it as a place to die. Sorry for your loss Babygeige. I hope your other betta enjoy it.

The plus side is that he wasn't hard to scoop out, since he was so near the top. You know how when they usually die they do it right behind a big rock or something that's hard to get to...
I'm going to do some serious Musical Fish today. I've got a rainbow with some suspicious looking white stuff on his head, so I need the 5 gal that Pink is in. Fun times!!

sorry Steph, but I like Renee's philosophy, that the hammock was so great he died and went to heaven!

Sad to hear, but from the sounds of it he went very peacefully and it was his time. Musical fish lol, Good luck with the rearranging. Angel

Thanks fishfever, Suzie, and Angel. Finn was a good fish, but he was just tired, I guess. The rearranging went very well. Everyone is back where they belong. My rainbow must have just bumped his head, because it healed up very quickly and he's back in the 30 with his friends. Poor Pink hated being in that 1.5 after being used to the 5 gallon, so I put her back and she's back to her old self again. Peter is in the 2.5 and likes it very well. I even saw him resting on the suction cup for the leaf hammock last night. Hopefully he will eventually realize that the leaf is for resting, but it's progress.

Good luck with the rearranging. I am glad that Peter at least seems possibly interested in the artificial leaf resting spot. As well it is nice to read that your rainbow is mending well and that Pink could go "back home" Carl

It sounds like Peter prefers suction cups to leaves to rest on. What a cute thing for a fish to do. lol
I'm glad Pinky is enjoying herself in the 5 gallon. She probably enjoys the extra space.

I know! He just likes the suction cup, I guess. I'm like, "Dude, there's a whole big leaf attached to this suction cup!" Oh well, whatever works. I was a little bummed that Pink didn't like the 1.5 gallon at first. I was hoping to finally tear down the 5. After all, it's supposed to be my QT/hospital tank. But I decided since I have to leave the 5 running for Pink, I can use it as a plant holding area. I've been slowly trimming the java ferns in the 10 gallon down and when I get a decent amount of it set aside, I'll see if my lfs will take them.

Sorry about your little guy. What is a betta hammock anyway? This is a Betta Hammock: They are new idea, that Stephanie pointed out in TFH (if I am correct). I saw them featured at an LA wholesaler while on my last business trip. The hammock seems like a neat idea, but it is the Bettas that will have the final decision here Carl
