I am considering adding some shrimp to the stock list of a 55 gallon planted tank that has been set up and I need some advice and suggestions on if this will work and what species of shrimp that would be recommended. The tank has a large HOB for filtration and a flow generator for circulation. There is minimal rockwork and wood in it. The plant list is Italian Val, , Anubias barteri, Microsword, and Giant Bacopa. Current stock list is 12-L129 Black Zebra pleco's (hope to breed them when they grow up) and 13-Dwarf Rainbows, and 1-Elephant nose.

Ok..I was at the Ranger's Game on Wed. when I wrote the response...let me go a bit more in depth. Elephant Nose fish are nocturnal and will actively hunt down any shrimp small enough to get...and sometimes the larger ones. I wanted one for my big tank when I get it and wanted Red Cherry Shrimp ($1 each) and Crystal Red Shrimp ($20 each) and was told that they would eat every shrimp I put in there. As far as Ghost...they are hard to breed in a large tank as the parents will hunt and eat the larva but they are cheap. The only thing is..you have to look at each shrimp in the store tank. These will carry a white ribbon worm type parasite. I have 1 GS left in my 55g and I have 10 Kuhlia loaches, 3 SAE, 6 Platy, 5 Serpa?, 5 Black Skirt, 1 common Pleco...and she is surviving...takes the Kuhlia on sometimes
