GH is still 3 drops 50-100, nitrAte down to 20 yeah! ;D Sounds good but for the GH and KH results seem reversed as Wonder Shells will bring up GH, but not have as much affect on KH, other than some control. Wonder Shells do not have much carbonates which is needed for KH. Carl

I am glad you got them fast, and like the results Wonder Shells are awesome...it helps when you are very busy. If I forget to use wondershells with my tank my fish look like and when I put them in they look like ;D That reminds me I need to get more for my tank

have to agree wholeheartedly on the WonderShell thing - they may "cloud" the tank for a day, but that could be a myriad of things! their overall affect of mineral restoration/stablization (both being key words) is PDG! good job guys - great product! definetely is not a cure-all so still pay attention to water parameters - they may jump for a day so I don't always use a whole shell as advised - is this OK guys? I mean, that's what they make little hammers for right?

I put the whole shell, never clouded my tank, was wondering about what it said on the back of the wonder shell. You can use on the glass inside your tank, for slime? Anybody try this? I will on my next water change. As far as the GH Carl, how can I get that up a bit?

Shells slowly dissolve into a tank and thus safely increase your GH and KH. You don't want to shift your GH up too fast. That you also have a good solid reading in your KH usually will mean your GH is also stable so this is an interesting aspect. I'd continue to let your shell work and dissolve. I've found shells in my tanks run about a week to 10 days before dissolving out completely. I tend to order about 5-6 shells at a time as I have multiple tanks. You can also use the Rift Lake Salts as well to work and impact your buffer. Shells have the advantage of slowly over time dissolve, and Buffer Salts like Carl has, work faster and in conjunction with water changes. Shells are a great choice for hands off raising, and Salts I think for faster hands on. Of course, Carl might know better.

The Shells should raise GH (as Jon also stated), so I would check your GH test kit, since 90% of the minerals in Wonder Shells will impact GH.
Yes you can also scrape the inside of your glass with Wonder Shells, as will not only remove algae, the algae will back slower than when scraped off via different methods.
John; you can break Wonder Shells (not the Medicated though), so as to use less or for smaller tanks. Generally Wonder Shells dissolves according to aquarium mineral content
Products such as Marine Buffer, Malawi Buffer, Cichlid Salts, etc will raise both carbonate hardness (KH) and general hardness (GH) much more rapidly than Wonder Shells. These products can be used in compliment to Wonder Shells, especially when KH needs to be improved as Wonder Shells only have a minor impact on KH.

Guess I will brake one up and put a small pc in the Betta tank. So as far as the GH, could I use Epsom salt? At least till I get a little more money. If yes how much? Thanks guys been a big help, as always!1

I would not recommend the use of Epsom salt in an aquarium (only baths). Epsom Salts can really throw off your magnesium balance and GH is much more than just magnesium.
I would just stick with the Wonder Shells or balanced buffers (or other forms of minerals)
