found a guy to take my 14" pleco - says he's getting out of the Sa cichlids and has a pair of "lapronias?" he's an older gent and didn't know the spelling - do any of you guys and gals have any idea what he might be talking about?

Could it be leporinus faciatus? I know that is not a cichlid, but many people keep them with cichlids and he may be confused about it. Did he describe them to you?
Other than that, I can't think of an SA cichlid that sounds like that name.

I spent an hour looking at cichlid pics on the internet, no spelling even came close! he said they looked like the electric yellows only w/ more black - one was 3" and the other was 5" he said they were pretty aggressive - couldn't open your pic btw - he also has 2 blue jack dempseys that are 4" - wants to give them all to me for the pleco but I'm thinking of just giving him the pleco for free, just to make sure he has a place w/ enough room - he's moving into a 125 gallon!

thanks guys - doesn't look like anything that'll work for me - they need a bigger tank than I have - nor will the jack dempseys - way too aggressive for me - guess i"ll just give plecoman a new home and be happy for him.....

glad you found him a new home. you are making the right decision about the dempsies. you know why it is called a jack dempsy don`t ya? anyways....you would also need a way larger tank. congrats on the new adopted home. try to find a rubber pleco. they are one of my favs. almost resembles a horseshoe crab if ya use your imagination....and they stay small.
