Have you tried different ways of applying the Melafix so as to record any differences?
As well are you leaving some of the same type of plants with no treatment as a control group?
Sorry to ask so many questions, I just think this experiment has great potential for use/education of others (myself included)

Unfortunately, I had every intention of only applying the Melafix to some of the leaves on the anubias, but then I wasn't paying attention and applied it to all of them. I only applied it one way. I just put some Melafix on a paper towel and wiped it on the leaves. I've only applied it once so far.
I plan on removing the anubias from the 30, cleaning it off and trying it with this plant, only doing some of the leaves as a way of control. What other methods would you recommend trying the application?

Besides wiping it on the leaf (with a paper towel or similar method), maybe a dip in straight Melafix, or a dip in 50% Melafix. The other thought for control is frequency; in other words once per day, once per two days, etc. Carl

I cleaned up the anubias from the 30 gallon and put Melafix on half of the leaves, so I should be able to tell if it's working or not.
I took some pictures of the plant after I cleaned it for comparison after a few weeks.

I think I finally figured out what exact product Amano was talking about in that article I read. Something called Phyton-git. I wasn't able to find it available in the US at online stores, but from what I have read on various forums, it works well, but it's pretty pricey. www.adana.co.jp/_e_product/110_index.htmlI've read on other sites about people using Excel as algae killer. Some people apply it directly to the plants and others just add it to their tanks, I presume in higher dosages than the label recommends.

The listing page does not say much about this product (not that this does not mean that it doesn't work). I have used Flourish Excel as a Plant Dip with varying results, but then I have not established a "best" ration (nor have I read any good feedback to this as yet) See: Freshwater Plant Care; Information, AlgaeCarl
