I thought I would share a couple of pictures of Mt. Shasta which is over 14,000 feet above sea level. I drive by this mountain both coming and going on these monthly trips. An interesting note that the way this mountain plugs a gap between other mountains, it can really catch the very moisture laden Pacific Cold Fronts. This area holds this record: Greatest Snowfall For A Snowstorm The record for a single snowstorm is 480 cm (189 in), at Mount Shasta , California, USA, between February 13 and 19, 1959.It was in on my return trip last Feb. (while even worse things were brewing at home) that I was stuck in a storm of near this above intensity. The next morning news reports showed the snowfall along Interstate 5 at one foot per hour. I could not see the road in front of me more an a few dozen feet, it was very disorienting as all I saw was white as the road below me was also gone and the snow plows could not keep up. April 16 morning: April 18 evening: Carl As well even four wheel drive vehicles were getting stuck.

Beautfiul pictures! Sorry to hear the trip was rough. At least you got to see the beautiful landscape. I hope your last year does not repeat itself with the storm you went through.

This part of the drive is scenic (approximately the first 200 miles going south or the last going north), although the mountains before I reach LA are pretty too, maybe next time I will get a picture of these. Renee, this drive went quite well, it was the Feb. trip (the Dec. was not too good either) that was terrible due to weather (about 17 hours instead of 12 hours). The snow in these pictures has retreated to about the 6500 foot level, while in Dec. to Feb. it was at about 500 to 2000 feet and this road you see is about 2500 in the pictures (with spots over 4000 feet) Thanks everyone for the nice comments Carl
