That's funny. I've been trying to take a good pic of my clown pleco for months. Every shot so far could be captioned "This is where my clown pleco was two seconds ago." He does hang out at the entrance of whichever cave he is occupying so I see him a lot, but he takes off and hides as soon as I try to snap a pic. I love fancy plecos, well, I love plecos in general. I'd love to breed clown plecos and some other of the fancy varieties that don't get very big. How are these guys doing for you? Do they seem to be fast or slow growers so far?
BTW I have not given up my search to identify these guys. I'm determined I can find them somewhere! lol

Kagome, we haven't had them very long so it's very hard to say how fast they grow. They aren't so active that I can't get pictures, it just seems that no picture I take can do them justice. I took a few to show Brenda, and they just came out really bad. I'll put that on my list for this morning, for something to get pictures of.
I appreciate all of your hard work on helping to id these. From what I've been hearing, they may not have a L number yet, so you may not find much. I'm treating them like most of the other fancy plecos...omnivore, and wood. Their tank isn't much to look at, as I still have them isolated, but they are in a 55 gallon at this point, and seem to be getting along fine. Today they will get zucchini, and I hope they eat it this time...they seem to only want meaty foods, but I know that isn't good for them to be that focused. The Black Zebras will eat anything, they like all food, as long as I am not near the tank.

Oh, those I know what they are...they are L-129's. Less than 3 inches without tail. Stay really small. I think they are adorable.
The other ones are much larger, and those are the ones that I can't ID. These are just little ones.

That is a great pic of the rhino, the reflection is cool and everything is so crystal clear. Those black zebra are just gorgeous. They are pretty close to the top of my most awesome pleco list. I also love the emperors and the gold nuggets. I was thinking, who is it that hands down the official "L" numbers anyway? Maybe we could send them pics of your unidentified plecos and they could help.

I have no idea Kagome. I think the L-number system was started in Germany, but I don't know who deals with it now.
And thanks, I think the little zebras are awesome too. Not nearly as pricey as the L-046, but just as cute in my opinion. I'm trying to figure out what to do with them once they come out of quarantine...they may go into a grow out tank, where nothing will be big enough to hurt them.

Wow, thanks Carl. I think they are just too cute. Walt is the pleco guy in the house, but I'm attached to the Black Zebras now. They don't do a lot more than hide, and to see them I have to scare them at this point, but I think that is part of being wild caught. They have been through a lot, and I hope I can give them an adequate tank after quarantine.

Very nice. I really like the yellow on them. Are these the plecos who posted of that were wild caught and really skinny when you first got them? If so, they look a lot healthier now.

This is a different set. The first ones I posted are still slim, but they have good appetites. These are doing fine, although they are quite shy. These are only about 2 inches as well.
