From what I have already read of your fish keeping adventures, you are definitely someone with a real talent for breeding IMO. Carl

Hi All Well Some more Bad luck I lost the HM Male Papa of this spawn last nite. He was sick a week and a half tryied every thing I was given tips on he was beaten up real badly by a plakat female lost most of his fins thought he was going to pull through but he didn't. So Now i am in market for another. Now good news is fry are doing great growing fast majority are starting to get a lot of red in fins anal and tail their about a 1/2 in now. Looks like a few have died but not enough to really notice.

They are really coming along well. The red is quite noticable on some specimens. Congrats once more on your continued success here!! Carl

congrats Curtis - maybe we should rub elbows or something! I raise platys - I know that may not seem like much of a challenge to most fish people out there, but it is what I enjoy most and have a pond I made outside where I rear them to sell that repicates their natural environment - living in northern Mich where we have 6 weks of bad ice fishing basically made it a challenge but I got it to work! lately however, I havent had much luck getting them to breed or they "hatch" when I'm asleep - am nowhere near the numbers I expected for this year so please send me a little of your luck!

Congrats Curtis! They look great. They really look like bettas now, kind of like miniature females. I also see the red coming in on them. Great job!

Very nice. It looks like you have 2 young males sparring in the 1st picture. I can really see their red fins now.

That is so cool! The red has gotten so bright. They are really looking nice.
At what point do you have to separate the males from the females? And once you do how do you house everybody? I know you can keep several females together, but what about all those males? Just curious.

Males have to be kept seperately (though I have heard of people keeping 2 males in a large tank). A lot of people keep them in jars though a 1 or 1 1/2 gallon is much better. Though if you have that many males, it can be hard to give them all much space.

Hi Thanks Yea i haven't gotten that far in my preperations yet. I am working on deciding on what fish i have to part with so i can do a tank shuffel thinking on putting all of them in a 29 gal for a littel more grow out. I am collecting jars though lol
