i really like the greek look my tank has. ill get more photos from closer up left front middle front and right front. and also left side view and right side view.
IMO i think that a couple of cichlids would be ok in the tank theres plenty of obstacles in a chase scenario nothing sharp and if the territories are there then it wouldnt be a fight over who gets what. i might have to add a few rocks or slate in a few spots to turn some of the columns into caves.
the greek goes great with my background of a greek statue lady. and the centerpeice big circular greek pillars is also a bubbler had to get a 2 way gang valve to keep my bubbler wand going while still allowing the centerpeice to bubble aswell.
my cory cats love the big circular decor all 6 of them shoal together and sleep during the day and explore after the lights go out.
neons are liking the plants on each side and 1 in the middle.
only concern i have with adding a cichlid would be my cory cats id like to give the cory cats a safe place to hide out i was considering a log but i really have no idea what i can do for them that a yellow lab cant get into.

The tank looks so nice! I love the Greek theme. It's great that you have so much aeration in the tank as well, longterm that will really help out your fish. I think that you've done a great job and I can't wait to see it with the new fish!

Very nice. You've got an ancient ruin theme going. I really like it. And the blue ligthing really brings out the color.

thanks everyone. im just not sure if its suitable for a cichlid tank tho. i was considering options for leaving everything in and adding some slate to make the ruins have caves but it might be a little bit too hard and dangerous. but if i could get the smaller side ruins to turn into caves it would be ideal for a hiding spot for a female lab.

I'm thinking that rather than put slate in there to build caves and hidey holes, if the columns were hollow you could buy one and break it apart and use the as caves - if anything, it would add to thr ruins look rather than distract from it! whatch all think of that?

i dont think that they are hollow but the larger one in the back i think might be. we were considering getting another one of them so it would even out both sides.
i might be able to take a dremel or skill saw and cut it in half but im not sure i understand what you mean by using it as a cave?
thanks alot bill. i was also thinking it would work for a single species but since we put the larger centerpiece in it im sure it ruins the 2 species idea.

they need a place to hide or retreat to and to establish as a territory that is all theirs - pvc pipe is cheap, is white, looks like the columns and comes in different sizes and fitting shapes - tucked away and maybe underneath might just do it

i need to figure out a website that has pvc pipes so i can look at different shapes i know for sure theres standard straight pipes and the standard L pipes. your local harware store or in the hardware section of your dept store! cheap, real cheap for a 10' length, like a few bucks, fittings of course cost more

i think im going to get a 3 way or just a 45 degree fitting at 3/4 or 1 inch. would that be about right for a cave/tunnel/ hiding place for a lab?

just a straight connector wood work! you don't want your fish getting caught or trapped - size depends on the fish you get and how old they are - w/ any luck, ther's probably a home depot right next to the fish store.....find the fish and buy the pipe fittings accordingly open at both ends and long anough so they don't get poked at from front or back
