Super cool. Frankly with all the tales lately of adults eating fry and fry escaping through mesh I would suggest one of those plastic "V" trap breeders to save yourself some hassle. My grandfather used those for decades when he bred guppies.

Very nice. She looks really pregnant, kind of like soem of mine. lol But I've seen my own pregnant guppies fatter. She is already quite big though. Depending on how many she has, she may give birth very soon or get even fatter. Good luck!

ya im not sure this is just an experiment pregnancy for us. once she does give birth well be able to time everything alot better next time. and i have her in a 3 way breeder box with the divider out and the fry tray in. i just placed her in it this morning when i realized that there were lots of little bulges in her belly. im still looking for eyeballs but im sure there already there but i heard on this site forgot who had it posted that when you notice eyeballs then shes ready to pop.
i do have one question tho. the gravid spot looks identicle to the day we braught her home but shes definately pregnant.
do some gravid spots never go away and do they change drasticly during pregnancy?

Th gravid spot darkens and gets larger as the pregnancy progresses. Sometimes it's hartd to tell though, especially when you're used to seeing pregnant guppies and then finally see one without a gravid spot that's not pregnant. It's not a super hard science though, as you breed, you should get better at telling if a guppy is pregnant an dwhen she'll give birth.

but she had the gravid spot when i braught her home. and she didnt give birth or anything and i had her in the isolation tank for 2 weeks before i even let her out with the male. and her gravid spot hasnt changed at all. but im almost positive shes pregnant now that the male has done his stuff to her.

It's a bit hard to see her in the lighting of this picture but just by the big size of her belly, I'd say she's pregnant unless there is some serious overfeeding.

my guppy is still the same size and ive cut back the feeding. put her in the breeder about twice a week i just not sure whats going on. im going to go buy 2 more female guppies. hopefully 1 of the 3 get knocked up and itttle definately make fatso feel alot better since shes always being chased for her good looks and lady parts.
ill have to take more pictures of her and the 10 gallon tank since we finally got a random bulb to sprout i beleive it is the onion plant from a top fin assorted bulbs package.

i put her in for like 3 days and she only poops soo i take her out clean out the breeder then put her back in. i think the male wont leave her alone long enough for her to feel safe enough that she can give birth. now i have 3 females so i think hell be distracted long enough that shell feel safe to let them go.

Putting fish in a breeder is very stressful for them. You're only supposed to have then in there for the birth. Leaving her in there 3 days is not something I would recommend. I know every time I put a guppy in a breeder, they panick and after they've calmed down they start to stress after only an hour or two. A breeder is very small and since the holes are so small so the fry cannot escape, there is not enough circulation for a fish to stay there long periods. That's why I try to avoid using a breeder if possible and if I use it, I keep a close eye on the fish and only keep them in there a short time.
Maybe you could put her in a seperate tank instead with a sponge filter and heater. That will give her much less stress and room to swim.
Good luck with your guppies!

well, from the sound of it, she aported the fry because you stressed her you can't take her out and put her back in twice a week you only do that one time, or not at all
