I bet you said some not so nice words? lol I too have left my filter off all day. But I think my best was when I stepped off the chair, I have to use to clean the 55 gal. Right in to the bucket of tank water, almost fell over and water went every where. I said a few words myself

I have to stand on a ladder to clean my 38g. I lost my balance and hopped off the ladder right onto my tank lid and smashed it into uselessness. I said some very not nice words, quite loudly. Luckily the baby was taking nap on the other side of the house.

No worries. I am the shortest person in my family among the adults. My cousin was taller than me when he was only 11 years old. Plus, my tank is very tall because of it's shape and then it sits on top of a rather large entertainment center.
I think the worst poop that has happened as far as fish stuff goes for me (I know I mention this a lot but it really traumatized me) was when someone at a party of ours poured a drink in my angelfish tank. I went to bed and all the fish were swimming around, I wake up and everyone's dead. I think I cried for two days.

I'm the official "forgot to plug a filter back in". I used to do it all the time. Back when I ahd 5 goldfish in a 10 gallon, once I didn't notcie for 3 days! Luckily thye didn't seem to mind. I'm over that now though, I always double check the filter after I unplug it for a water change. Hasn't happened in quite a while.
I did spill fish food 3 times in a day once though. XD

How about filling 5g buckets and forgetting that your ARE filling them and flooding the bathroom......AT WORK!!!
Yep...I did that! I have A.D.D. and get distracted rather easy...I keep a beach towel here at the office now. I drain the 55g outside so I don't have to worry about flooding the front office floor (but I think I did once!)
At home I was cleaning the 10g Red Cherry Shrimp tank that is on my son's dresser (chest of drawers actually) and walked off and left (10g of water) draining into a 5g bucket...8g later...I remembered! The dresser is cheap partical? board stuff!!! OMG! and it is sitting on carpet!!!

Well, I'm guilty of not plugging back in the heaters. I don't think I have forgotten a filter yet, but definitely heaters.
The worst one I've ever done happened just 2 days ago. I was trying to slam thru a bunch of water changes. I was almost done, refilling the last tank, a 125 gallon. I was avoiding the TV, and had my book, so I didn't get too distracted. Put the Python in the tank, all is good...so I thought.
I had the glass lid closed far enough to trap the Python head in the tank. What I didn't realize is that the head slipped off, and the hose was no longer trapped in the tank; as a matter of fact, it was now laying on my carpet!
I'm not exactly sure how much water it was...best guess at least 25 gallons. A 6 foot square of carpeting was soaked, as in, I got out the "Green Machine" to soak up water. I still have fans going on that area, but it's mostly dry now.
Good news, I hate that carpeting anyway. It came with the house, and we had already decided it wasn't staying. Bad news, I can't afford to change it right now, plus would have to move around 500 gallons worth of tanks to do it.

I knocked over an entire bottle of Flourish Excel all over the floor once. That stuff reeked for days!! It was terrible!

OMG Barbara, that's a serious hishap! I would never hear the end of that one! I'm sorry that you can't afford to change out the carpet right now. Plus with the tanks that is going to be one serious job. Maybe look into sheet vinyl flooring? My mom has that in a couple of the bedrooms, it's made to look like wood flooring but none of the maintenance hassles! I love that stuff. It might be a better and cheaper choice than carpet.

LOL, yeah, at least it was just damp when my husband saw it. He's not mad, and understands how that could have happened.
THe dedicated fish room is in the works. We have to rewire the garage, after getting permits, and insuulate it, but it's going to happen, hopefully this summer!
