good job Steph! glad you caught it early - platys respond well to ick meds if detected early

Good news everyone! I think the ich is all gone! I haven't seen any spots on anyone sine last Tuesday, and I haven't noticed any scratching either. I'm still doing the Quick Cure though, at least for a couple more days. Then I'll start to lower the temp back down to normal.
Do you think it'd be safe to move these 3 platies to the main 30 gallon tank next week sometime?

I think a couple more treatments of Quik Cure is definitely a good idea! I would also keep an elevated salt level for another 7-10 days. As to moving the platys, I would possibly wait as long as 10-14 days and then consider a precautionary treatment with a 1/2 dose of Quick cure or even better a Medicated Wonder Shell (as preventative treatment is where the MWS really "shine") Carl

Still no sign of any further ick, or other illness. I've been slowly adjusting the water temp back to normal, and have been slowly getting salt levels back to normal. Today I'm going to add a Medicated Wonder Shell and half doses of Quick Cure like Carl recommends, and if things are still ok Sunday or Monday, I'm going to move these platies down to the 30 gallon.
Cross your fingers!

Oops, too late! I did have both in there at the same time. It was only for a day or two though. Hopefully it didn't do any damage.
The move sort of went ok. My platy/molly thing and the small juvenile platy are doing quite well in the 30 gallon, but for whatever reason the twin barred female platy got picked on and I lost her. My guess is that she was still weak, although she looked fine when I moved her. Anyway, someone was picking on her and she deteriorated very rapidly. She was pretty big, maybe she was old...
Since this has happened, I've been keeping a very close eye on the other 2 transplants and they're still fine, fortunately.

Wow, this is an old thread. I've since lost the fish I started this thread with, started a whole tank, and have had lots of new acquisitions. I didn't feel like cluttering up with another new thread though, so I thought I'd add to this one. Anyway, I bought some new residents for the 10 gallon. 5 Dwarf Emerald Rasboras and 3 Dwarf Sunset Gouramis. Here's a little video: s123.photobucket.com/user/babygeige/media/VID_20130625_210624_679_zpsd0447fec.mp4.htmlI'm a little bummed. The original file is much higher quality than Photobucket is showing, but you get the idea I suppose. The Rasboras are so tiny! The biggest one isn't an inch long, haha. They're similiar to the Celestial Pearl Danios, only much more shy. They hide in the back a lot, only darting out for food and to chase each other around a bit before going back into hiding. In fact, they hid all the time until I brought in the gouramis. Now they are a little more brave. I just love dwarf gouramis. They're active, pretty, and peaceful.

Babygeige,
I don't think your link to your photobucket is working right. Thanks for an update on the thread though.

I went in an modified the link url (there was an extra line I removed). The Emerald Rasboras are very active as they "pop" in and out. Carl
