what? none of you have ever kept fish in your bathtub? come on....fess up nope not me as for the fish you have, with enough hiding spots it shouldn't be a problem to keep the cory's with the yellows all the others should be fine in the 10 gallon tank

i know from experience that the yellows are very mellow i'm not sure about the blues, jon might be able to give you more info regards that you should be able to add cory's possible the loaches but i wouldn't add the gourami, anyone correct me if i'm wrong

the electric blue hap will taunt the fish in the tank....the yellows would be my choice....but with your ph, maybe the rams may be a good choice. as to the cycling, you have gotten great advice. my only concerns to this point are the chemicals used for cleaning. if it was rinced well a few small water changes should look after that. I do have to say tho....your 10 has to be in great shape. glass cats are incredibly tough to keep alive. they are very fragile and die easily. the fact you have 2 healthy ones says volumes of your abilities as a fish keeper....congrats.
now as to the fish in the bathtub john.....gotta out do ya....my roomie took all his fish, guppies, yellow labs, 3 kinds of barbs, and 2 bettas and took them on an afternoon holiday.....into our pool. they loved it. we sat in there and they never left our side....nipped leg hairs etc....it was entertaining.

dude thats great with putting your fish in the pool. lol
thats just funny ive never heard of anyone puttin their fish into a pool...thats awesome though!
since i wouldnt be able to put the blue guy in the tank would i have to buy a new tank big enough for him to have him? i dont have either of those fish yet so i was just wondering. i would love to be able to mix all my fish together with the two cichilds.
so thanks again

blue guy you're referring to the cichlid right?
if so i would buy another at least 29 gallon tank for it where again you could keep 1 male to 2-3 females
the reason not putting 2 species in that size tank is the footprint they're teritorial so they need their space

Eve bought up a good point on hidey holes and caves - if you're just getting into cichlids, I'd recommend the yellows as well - I have a single male living w/ platys and a male and a female in another 20 w/ a bunch of dither fish - they are very mellow and love hidey spots, of different sizes is of good importance, smaller for the females that are inaccessible to the male

test in about 3-4 days unless you see your test fish getting stressed, test a bit earlier

All the fish questions and cycling questions have been answered well IMO, so will not be redundant here (besides I gotta go take a nap for for some energy for my drive back). Anyway, I was surprised as with Eve about your high KH, which is likely the factor in your high pH Besides the use of partial RO or DI water, you might consider the use of drift wood, peat, or my favorite; Indian almond leaves. The later two will color your water yellow, but the tannins will counter balance the carbonates you obviously have in your water. Bio Lif is my preferred product containing Indian Almond leaves. This product will not only add tannins, but it also is effective at controlling pathogenic heteotrophs such as AeromonasI would recommend reading over this article as well: AQUARIUM GH, KH, Ph, MINERAL CATIONS/ELECTROLYES; Importance maintaining healthy positive calcium ion levels, GH, pH, KH and electrolyte levelsCarl

soo i read through the article carl said to look at. is there anything really wrong with my levels cuz it seems like my Kh and pH are not affecting any of my fish and id rather not mess with trying to lower either of them by adding alot of pH reducer or anything else?
im just trying to scoot by till i can get them transferd lol. this process is taking alot longer than id like it to.

you have to be patient dear - many members here will tell you of great frustration, or of the repercussions of rushing things - a well cycled aquarium means healthy fish and happy posts - rushing things means unhealthy fish and an unhappy keeper

ya, i just think its odd that my established tank has same levels as the one cycling might just be a freak coinky dink but even the amonia is the same level at .25 ph is the same all of them are reading the exact same. sooner i can get my fish outa the 10 gallon the happier they will be its alot less crowded now that i moved my decorations out of there but still not roomy enough for 9 fish. specially the dojo and gourami the dojo is already around 5 inches and the gourami is about 2 almost 3. only ones that seem happy are the cory cats cuz they are just crazy little guyz. and guppies are definately gonna be mad from being in isolation this whole cycling process.
one thing i am mixed on my feelings is since i have the divider in the breeder box and my male guppy staring at his 2 girlfriends this whole time and not being able to touch or swim up to them when i do let the 3 of them out of there. hes going to do the bow chica wow wow right away lol. im hoping i can just get one of the females nocked up the first go around soo i can see what colors the offspring are soo i can put it down on record.
