Nothing better to tell you that you are doing a good job with your fish as when they breed for you. Congratulations on your babies!

In my experience with mollies, they always survived on their own the parents are not as mean as guppies or platies are IMO

In my experience with mollies, they always survived on their own the parents are not as mean as guppies or platies are IMO I agree with Eve on this. I have found many molly babies swimming around the adults while the adults have total indifference to the babies while with guppies in particular, the babies seem to instinctively hide a lot more. well . I found three more, so 6 in all, I was doing the syphon vacumming, and they were swimming around my bucket. when can I move them back into the bigger tank? It has been about three weeks or so, they are growing and doing good. I can already tell what sex they are. (pretty much) thanks to my sex ed class.....

LOL! I remember that......actually, anytime they cannot be a mouthful to any of the fish in your tank, they are safe from being eaten - doesn't mean they won't get chased or abused though.....good luck!

Congrats cashay! It sounds like they're doing well. Murdock made a good point on how if they are bigger than eating size they can still be picked on. For example, after I sold a buch of guppies a few days ago, I moved the ones I was keeping to my female only and male only guppy tanks. When I first put them in, the fish in there were trying to nibble at them. They weren't sure if they were a fish to include in their tank or a fish that was a fry and could be eaten. They think anything smaller than them is edible. That's just the way they are. They might have also been trying to develop a hierachy. Platties and guppies aren't normally agressive fish. Just a heads up though if there is a scenario where a fish is picked on.

Well I did a test, and put a fish in with them, one that is not usually aggressive and they were being picked on! nipped at, and chased. So i took the bigger fish back out, Im glad I didnt put them all in the big tank, I may not have been able to catch them, I felt bad yesterday, I found two of the fry caught in the bubbler tube, and I dont know how long they were in there, i seen them hanging upside down, I got them out and they floated on there sides, then later in the evening seen them laying on the bottom of the tank, but still breathing, i was going to go ahead and take them out and take them out of their misery, decided against it at the last minute, thinking if they are dead in the morning would just take them out then, Well I got up in the morning and neither one was on the bottom, both swimming around but one with more difficulting then the other, I think it broke a fin on one side or has an open wound or something, but still trying to swim around and alive, I put some of that melfix on it so Im hoping that will help. But back to the subject.... ;D (sorry side tract) I will wait longer on putting the babies with the bigger one's, but now have to buy another hospital tank, for the sick ones....
