im looking into getting a small koran angelfish for a 75 gallon FOWLR tank. i am attracted to the blue pattern and i know they turn grey when adults, but how long does one stay in its juvi phase? This can vary depending on tank size, diet and the usual factors that affect FW and SW growth. I have kept many Koran Angels (also known by the name Semicirculatus Angel), and they are VERY hardy and also be aggressive as well. The color change usually begins around 3-4 inches and unfortunately the adult colors are not as nice, unlike the similar and related Emperor Angel. Time wise this also depends on size/age at the time of purchase but as an average this has usually been about 18 months for me when purchased very small. I have some information about these here: Marine Fish; Koran AngelCarl

i love the coloration so much but i dont have the means for caring for it in my 14. if i was only up home. its wierd the site i order from has free shipping on 99+ so it cost more the total order without the angel than it does with the angel, but that means another fish instead its tough, i like the coloration, so nice but they can be aggressive like you said, i had a baby 2 incher before and he didnt make it that long. again im not a fan of getting small fish, but i guess it will have to wait until im out of school. put the koran angel i get or prehaps emperor angel will be a nice one PS i like the emperor angels but they are alot more expensive than your standard korans.

If you can get a larger tank going and afford the Emperor Angel, they are really worth the price (they are a favorite of mine): Here is the adult: Here is the Juvenile: Carl

Wow, beautiful! I wonder if they're related to the FW angelfish.

not even close....evolved very differently. just like a marine betta is only in appearance alone.

I actually don't think they look anything like FW angels. I was just wondering since they had a similar name. Thanks for letting me know. Common names can be misleading. lol
